How do I switch to manual transmission!?!?

Sorry for the stupid question...but I've looked all over this forum... (I think) and I can't find how to change from auto to manual.

Apparently, manual has lots of advantages over auto, some of which I am aware.

So...how do I switch to manual

When you go to the race menu where you can tune your car, replay, etc. Go to options, then look under the race icon (has a helmet on it I think). It should say 'Transmission' MT or AT.
