How do you convert the GT5 replay video format?

So I have a few saved replays of me drifting, and I was planning on making a video with them. So I added the replay to the saved data utility on the PS3. I then proceeded to copy that to a flash drive and then I was able to get it on my computer.
I thought being able to get it onto my computer would be the main problem, which I actually found to be incredibly simple. However that said, my dilemma now is that the format of the video is in an obscure format that I can't open.

What copied over to the flash drive were a few folders, and the files were two pictures as well as 3 files called PARAM.PFD, PARAM.SFO, and REPLAY.0

I'll keep looking for a solution, however if anyone can offer any help, it would be much appreciated.

Well, well. Nice try, have you checked the file size? The replay file is only recognized inside GT5 and needs the files of GT5 to render the "video". You can use a pvr or a cam to record it. Sorry to dissappoint you.

Where there is a will, there is a way. There must be someone out there who can reproduce the GT5 files, allowing you to render the video on your computer.

Nope - not possible, once again; check the file size. It is not a video file, therfore you must invent ps3 emulator to capture the replay file on your pc. Good luck wasting time you will never have back ;)

As said, the replay file is just a tiny amount of data that the game can read to reconstruct. You would need to emulate the whole game on PC.

Much easier to buy a capture card.

Connect your PS3 to a DVD recorder and record on a DVD. You can than upload these videos to youtube if you want. That's how I did it with GT5 prologue. I guess it's still the same.

Interesting, but if I am going to spend money on DVD's each time I make a replay I might as well buy an HD PVR Recorder and use that instead.

You can get DVD recorders that use RAM discs like the Panasonic DVD recorders that quickly edit and delete what you want. It's like using a HDD and a basic movie editor but on a disc. Also there's DVDRW but quite limited. You really want HD recording though so a PVR or capture card is the way to go.

Well my new laptop is able to burn DVD's so is there not a way to just plug it in to the PS3 via USB and achieve the same effect as with the DVD recorder?
