How do you get tunes to save?!

I bought a mk1 gti and I keep adjusting the upgraded trans for a higher top speed and it never saves. It says under the stats that the top speed is 132 MPH, but when I go and drive it, it only reaches 118 MPH. Then I go and adjust the tune to the highest top speed, save it, and go back and its still the smae top speed with the stats unchanged at 132 MPH. I even tried loading the tune and nothing.

The tuning is so freakin confusing in this game.

There's an option right at the pre-tune screen that has create, save, load, and test - hit up save, and then select the track you want to save it for, or you can select all of them at once.

I did that. none of them work.

it's saved, it just has a weird layout. I thought the same thing at first.

Make sure you press Start, and wait for the save animation to show up in the corner.

after you save it do you go to "LOAD" and then pic a track?

Remember in GT how if you set the top speed at 300km/h it could only get to 290 or so? I think it's the same in this game, a theoretical top speed that is hindered by drag etc

You're setting gear ratios. You could set the theoretical maximum speed to 500km/h, but that doesn't magically give your engine the oomph to get that fast.

So if you raise the top speed of your gear box, you have to pump up your engine's power output (or lower the weight of your car, etc.) as well.
