How long did it take you to beat GTA3? I have had it for 2 days now and i am already halfway through the 2nd island. Am i doing good or am should i be doing better?

1 month of playing around 2 weeks mission!!!!!!I did not continously play it

took about a week at most for the main missions and jumps etc., but i didn't play it constantly. can't really remember. i know i had portland nearly completed within 4 hours (the first evening of having it), and staunton in a little longer. i think i had shoreside within 4 days. the XC missions and packages took a bit longer as by then i was enjoying the plane and killing people. so you're about right, but soon you will stop playing the missions so much. its called getting all 3 cities!

Took me 2 days to get to the 2nd island and just open the third island, but then the save got corrupted, i got pissed, and i had to restart. It then took me another 2 days to beat all the story missions and get all the hidden packages. I havent done any of the side missions yet, im taking a break and admiring my 2700 kills and 900 cars exploded thus far.

12000 kills (one my 6th game after the first 5 corrupted).
put it this way - i am now boss 8000+ and on my first game i was boss 14000+. i had a hell of a lot more kills in that game.
my advice to you is to save in different slots.
save one before beating up the final purple nines (assuming you want to see those guys again)
save one before 'the exchange' as this is the last mission
save one with one taxi mission left (smallest thing that can be left)
save on at 100%
the 100% may corrupt but finally mine hasn't (after 5 goes)
