This is something I thought about today for no particular reason. How long did you spend with each GT game and why did you move on? đź’ˇ It should create some interesting answers Ihope. As well as waste a bit of precious god-given time. :guilty:

Ford Racing: I actually bought this before i bought GT1. I read about Gran Turismo 1 in some online game-reviews site and it sounded interesting, but I wanted to learn how to virtual-race on a lesser game. I spent a couple months with Ford Racing...got totally addicted to it (literally) before I plunged into...

GT1: 3 months. Went thru sim-mode several times in GT1. I couldn't believe the variety of cars, races, and various features like tuning, buying parts, doing practice laps & qualifying. But I'll be honest I eventually got bored with GT1. It just doesn't have enough cars that aren't Japanese.

GT2: I spent just over two years here! The variety of cars and race-mods is astounding. To this day I don't feel completely done with GT2 and I'll occasionally go back.

GT3 Started this in the summer of 2005...I spent about a year and a half racing various cars in GT3. But (like the first game) I got bored with GT3 even though it has some awesome racing. I eventually wanted MORE CARS that are missing from...

GT4: Officially I started GT4 3 months ago...I can tell I'll be stuck here for a long....long time. :)

GT1- More than 2 years.
GT2- 2-3 months, and these on emulator (pc)
GT3- 7 months approximately, because I bought it late.
GT4- From Christmas 2005, till now, 1.5 year. (and continuing)

I was playing GT1 consistenly for about 2 years, up until not long before GT2 came out. I was playin GT2 until I got GT3, possibly longer than I was playing GT1. GT3 laster about a year and and a half, GT4 lasted about 6 months of consistent playing.

Good Squire,
We encounter one another yet again, a distinct pleasure. In answer to your query, much time has been spent traversing the tracks of this, a most excellent series.
GT1-18 months
GT2-22 months
GT4- 3 months and counting.
Max Payne- 7 Years
Time most well spent!
Yours From Videoland
Fangio

I've never played GT1. I've wanted to, but I don't like buying CD based games off of EBay.
So, GT2 was played up until I bought GT4. I skipped over GT3 until afterwards, as I had heard GT4 was just about to come out (I believe this was late 2002). So, come 2004, GT4 came out and I bought it. I still play GT2, but only when I wanna bother taking Lunar 2 out of my Playstation in my room.
GT3, however, I bought in June or so of last year, and have played it consistently (assuming I'm not playing a new game) since then, alongside of Enthusia and GT4.

I played thwem in this order:
GT2 `2 years
GT1 30minutes
GT2 6 months
nothing for about a year
GT4 1.75 months and counting

GT1 - Since I bought it at 1999.
GT2 - Since I bought it at 1999.
GT3 - Since I bought it at 2001.
GT4 - Since Christmas of 2005.
TT - 6 Months.

I'm on a roll.

EDIT: I play GT2 the most.

I played them in this order:
GT2: 2 years
GT3: 1 hour :scared:
GT1: 15 mins or so
GT4: A little less than a year.
TT: 7 days

GT - from Christmas 1998 until I got GT2 and occasionally even after that
GT2 - from early 2000 until I got GT2
GT3 - from Christmas 2001 until the launch of GT4
GT4P - from the launch day until the launch of GT4
GT4 - ever since the launch day.

Yep, I'm a heavy user. :D

Ive dabbled in GT1 and 2 but only for a few months each.I bought GT4 in March 2006 and Im still playing over a year later.I bought GT3 4 months ago and I think Ive played it 3 times!!! GT4 is simply the best!!!!

Everyone, keep it a secret :scared:

I never liked GT3 and i dont know why......

I know why. Gt3 is kind of bland...feels vague. I dug it but GT3 doesn't get me rocking in my seat the way other games do. Even the Beginner races of GT4 feel more frantic than some of the advanced races of GT3.

btw your secret is out ...:ouch:

Im sorry, GT1 jusat sucks, when you have GT2 RIGHT there... I am 14 and GT2 consumed my life from 8-11yrs then I got NFSUG2 then Forza then finnally... GT4

Yeah thats what i think too.

Hours of playing GT4:
3 or more hours a day, lets say 3 hours all 7 days in a week = 21 hours per week.

Playing GT4 since ~2,5 years

1 year = 52 weeks
+ 1 year = 52 weeks
+ 0.5 years = 26 weeks
= 130 weeks.

130 weeks x 21 hours = 2730 hours of playing GT4.

2730 hours of playing GT4 = 113 24hours days racing around with GT4.

Inaccuracy 400+/- hours.

I bought GT2 the day it was released. Only played about an hour of it. Thought it was too hard. I put it and all gaming to the side for a few years because of a 60 hour a week job, and lots of traveling to real races. Gave the PS1 and GT2 to a nephew.

I reenter the gaming world with a PS2 and GT3 in 2002. Spent the best part of the year with it. All Golds, including licenses. Every car. Every part for every car.

Switched to an Xbox for the last few years, but now I'm back. Spent a few more weeks refreshing with GT3 and am ready to start GT4.

I got GT1 when I bought the original PlayStation way back in 1997 (sheesh, been ten years!).

I got GT2 in 2000, and GT4 (with the PS2) 15 March 2005.

GT1 = a couple of years
GT2 = couple of years more
GT4 = two years, one month and counting.

Wow, I can't even remember as much time I spent on these games. . .
GT1 - probably for 5 or 6 months. Highly anticipating GT2
GT2 - Played this until GT3 came out - Got into countless fights with the girl I was dating at the time for being late or not wanting to go out because I was playing GT2
GT3 - Probably the most of the series I played. Went through it 3 times, and constantly played it until GT4 came out. Lost said Girl approximately at the time this came out too.
GT4 - Been playing since it came out, but not as much as GT3 due to work and life.

gt1: I've only tried it for a day( I got bored at the end, because I've already played gt3!!)
gt3:well i played for more than 5 years because it was my only racing game.
gt4:from last year to today!! (It's far better than gt1 and gt3:)

I was with this chick I'll call Ellen (since that was her name). Yeah she used to get so mad if she was talking to me on the phone. She could always hear me racing in the background...I'd have to turn the volume down real low :yuck: if I was on the phone with her.

GT1, a year or two, easily. Probably more. Probably a lot more.
GT2, the same.
GT3, maybe two months max. The game just didn't do it for me; nicer graphics but in most other respects a big step backward from GT2 in my opinion.
GT4, ever since I got it, over a year ago.

About 6 or 7 years ago we rented a playstation from our local video store for a weekend. We rented GT2 and some jet-ski game. GT2 was soooo cool but I was frustrated trying to drive without a wheel.

A little over a year ago we bought my son a PS2. I found a used copy of GT3 and a wheel and pedals cheap on ebay. I'm at about 85% now and absolutely love this game.

5 months ago I picked up a used copy of GT4. I'm at maybe 18% on it and it's different. It has lots more cool cars but I can't say it's really better than GT3. Photomode is kinda cool though.

I picked up a copy of GT somewhere along the way too. I've just dabbled in it because I don't like the way it works with the wheel. I've had more fun doing 2 player with it and the regular controlers.

I'll have to find my own copy of GT2 now and make the collection complete.

1. GT1 my cuz had this first so I play his for like a 3 months till I finally got a PS1.

2. GT2 got it the day it came out and played it for about a year took a break from it and then started playing it again to get my groove back weeks before GT3 came out.

3. GT3 got that on day for launch and finish it around 6 months or so got bored with it since it didn't have as many cars as GT2.

4. GT4 I was work a EBgames when it came out. Yeah I left early that day:sly: I remember getting mine first right out the box while there's a line of 50+ ppls watching me buy mines and waiting to get there's to.:D I play it for like 3 months till Froza came out play that for awhile and came back to my roots. For another 8 months till TT came out.

GT1 has a totally different feel don't it? I remeber when I first got it it made me happy to drive a car virtually cuz the cars felt so real with real issues and concerns to tackle... My MA70 Supra (for instance) was an oversteer-monster! Instead of getting frustrated with it, I realized that ...well, it's just like a real car, What could I do to try and fix my so-called problems?

...now GT1 feels insufficient in comparison to later games!! :D

details many of my games

GT1 - I bought it in late 1998, and by July 12, 1999, I had completed a game in which I had won every race and collected every prize car in every colour. That took me from about June 21 until July 12, and wasted far too much of that summer's holiday weeks.

Later it became obvious you could get equivalent to 100% in a couple of weeks, and, in the extreme, it could be done in twenty-four hours if you planned right.
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/gt1-24hour.txt
I did several "theme games", such as Toyota only, Nissan only, Mazda only (as much as possible).
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/supra.txt
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/gt1-mazda.txt
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/nissan.txt
and several others.

GT2 - I got on first day of release (Dec 17, 1999), and got to 100% or equivalent relatively quickly (March 1, 2000), and played somewhat enthusiastically until the major PS2 price-drop, although I did go back to GT1 for relief. It was then that I did some of my "theme games".

I had one main GT2 game
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/gt2-game1.txt
and also one successful minimal one (only 100% so far?)
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/gt2-tm30.txt.
I did try to start one-or-two other GT2 games in attempt to do the "theme" idea, but found the going slow and never got very far in them.

Just recently I started a new attempt to collect a garage capable, without too much cheating, of winning all events . . .
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/gt2-mfr.txt

GT3 - I got before I got a PS2, and so began playing on the day of the major PS2 price drop (May 16, 2002).
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/gt3-game1.txt
I did only the one game, although I came back to it after getting 100% to try more gold licenses. 100% was a little difficult for me because of the Complex String Time Trial, but an Internet friend persuaded me I should persist at it even though the objective initially seemed so far away.

GT4 - I also got on the first day of release (Feb 22, 2005), but I really am not up to the task of getting 100%. I played for something over a year, then took a break(?) with Tourist Trophy (which I have never "logged", partly to avoid the tedium, and partly because that game has no day counter). It could be said I'll take infinite time to get 100%, but, for now, I've gone back to GT2 because it has a reasonably complex physics model, and a good selection of cars, but has reasonable length races which can be made to fit into a life.
http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/logs/gt4-game1.txt
Every now-and-then I think I should do B-spec'ing (I did get 10,000 B-spec points), and collect various prize cars "in the background", while simultaneously playing GT2 on another machine.
