Just a question and a poll. :)

Me? I've sort of lost interest in GT4, so far as sim racing goes; haven't completed a race in sim mode in well over a month now, which is a long time for me.

I see myself playing GT4 until GT5 comes out, then I'll probably drop GT4 because from the sound of it, there's gonna be a ton of new features, cars, races, tracks, etc. to try.

...:sly: but I'll still come back to GT4 every now and then I think. :) It'll be like putting on that perfect old pair of shoes.

I'll play GT4 until I get a PS3 and GT5. Then I'll play GT5 to my heart's content. Then, later, I'll go back, just because I can.

And yet another, well I'll try to until my PS2 dies and some of the buttons on the controller arent working at the moment so could be interesting...

Yeah...That's why I only buy Sony controllers and only new ones. the last controller I had was basically in half, but all the buttons still worked...well, all the circuits still worked. Sony builds the toughest controllers and toughest systems. I saw a "durability" test, and the guys dropped the 360 and it failed. The PS3 beat the Nintendo 'cause the PS3 was literally in pieces and it still powered up. It was awesome. But yeah. I might come back and do a couple races in GT4, but it'll be a while. There are 3 games coming up that I want. So...GT5 will be the one I play the most, though.

I gave up on GT4 other than 300 MPH reasons a couple of years ago. GT3 (and GT2, for that matter), on the other hand, still goes strong. At this point, I'm not sure, but I will probably play GT3 (and GT2) alongside GT5 when it comes out.

I don't think i'll ever stop, I don't have a PS3 (I did but sold it again because of the lack of good games, apart from GTA4) so am not fussed about GT5 TBH. Certainly not buying another PS3 just for 1 game anyway, although I would happily buy another PS2 just to play GT4.

Plus, when the inevitable happens and GT5 is delayed again until 2013 people will soon be back. :)

GT4 is an excellent game for PS2! Well I don't think I'll be getting my PS3 in the next 2 years but after I get my GT5, I'll still play both. GT4 has its pros and cons so as GT5 so it's worth it to play both ;)👍

I'll quit GT4 at the end of october when I return daans disk for the next UKGTP, or when my PS2 dies which may be sooner than that the way things are going. As I don't have (and cannot currently afford) a PS3 I'll be quitting Gran Turismo entirely from that point until I eventually buy a PS3 most likely just for GT and GTA which was the reason for buying a PS2 in the first place.

It has been a good run though. As well as the sim mode progress in my sig, I've put in hundreds of miles over three UKGTP's, and thousands more during my current project to drive every car in the game in arcade mode.

I played a bit of GT4 just yesterday. I love the career mode, I have a save I got somewhere on the internet with all the licenses but no races done, so from time to time I use it to start with a different car and see where I can go.
I spend my time (half an hour every two days) playing Forza 3 and GT4, I also have shift, dirt and dirt2, and ferrari challenge but I mainly play Forza 3 and GT4.

I still plan on making 1 more GT4 story, if anyone's willing to read it. I have a deep fear of having to make double-posts when posting new chapters, and I don't know why it's not as successful as other stories, e.g. the Bio of Charlie Williams and Red-Line.

Looks like the consensus is as I thought: most of us will drop GT4 like a hot potato, but plenty will still play it when GT5 is out. We'll see...;)

Yeah...That's why I only buy Sony controllers and only new ones. the last controller I had was basically in half, but all the buttons still worked...well, all the circuits still worked. Sony builds the toughest controllers and toughest systems.

Sony really does make the best controllers...the most durable, anyways. I've tried other brands that seem fancier at the time...air-cooled dual-shocks, see-thru models with cool lights in 'em, dual-shocks that seem to fit my big hands better. But they always wind up breaking. Or if not breaking, then feeling incredibly flimsy after just a week or 2 of play.

As for my PS2 slim....I've dropped it, put it on its side, and had it fall off the table as me (or someone) caught their foot in a cable. 6 years and the thing still runs flawlessly! It really is amazing.

driftking: make the story, someone will read it. It's best to make the story NOW before GT5 comes out though. ;)

There's no problem if you double post 2 large chapters of a story in a thread with several days, even 24hrs between them.
Double posting is frowned upon here when we get people who do things like post:

as a single post.

Then immediately afterwards post:

"I agree."

as another post within minutes, and then:

"Oh, I forgot to ask..."

as another post a minute after that.

It looks messy and isn't tolerated as we have to clean it up, and can easily be avoided by using the edit button to put the additional relevant comments into the first post.
Large story chapters or multiple tunes such as in the tuner garage threads should be separated into a post each to ease reading and future editing for the writer, and there's no problem with that.

I ticked option 3. I'll try to complete GT4 before GT5 comes out. Or, if I don't make it in time, I'll try to finish GT4 first and then get into GT5. I'm currently at 10% so I have some driving to do because I only bought the game second hand a year ago just to make sure to collect it amongst some other "need to own" games to the PS2. It has spent much time on the shelf so far, but now I'm gonna give it much more of the limited available playtime :)

Currently I have little urge for high difficulty races, if I can humiliate and crush the oppsition I will (current tournament the Japan races runs at 9 A-spec points). However I think this is because I've just risen from being spanked by AI at times since I had no money and sucky cars so currently it's retaliation time. I might even out later on, blasting the opposition is probably only fun for so long.

I always enjoyed watching replays at racinggames but at GT4 I absolutely love it for some reason. Often I run the race and then I sit and watch the entire race before moving on.

Judging by the sounds of it with this whole Standard business, there will be very little reason for me to come back to GT4 other than (maybe) certain tracks. More so than any of the previous games, GT5 really seems to be making the previous game redundant. GT3 offered some things GT4 didn't, GT2 did the same (to both GT1 and GT3), and GT1 is great for being the beginning. I haven't turned the PS2 on period in almost a month, but whenever I do, I don't think it will be for GT4, especially once GT5 is in my grubby little hands.

The last time I've touched a GT4 disc was the last time I attended the SFGTP which was what, a year and a half ago, maybe more?

Thanks to YLOD I stopped playing already.
New PS3 Slim obviously can't play PS2 Games.
So I'm playing GT:PSP at the moment to unlock cars for arcade mode.

November's gonna be a crazy month in the Parnelli Bone household. GT5 for me; Sims 3 (on the PS3) for my girlfriend. I fear we'll both become "distant" at the same time. :)

At least you can exchange Liveries and Interior Design schemes for the holidays!

I see myself playing GT4 for a while, when GT5 comes out ima pass my PS2 to my girl so i have a GT fix at home away from home.

PS2's really were tough. I bought my original one in November of 2001, and used it until April of 2008. Stupid me, I moved it to play on the bigger TV in my living room, and didn't use a surge protector. It still powers up, and reads disc, but the lightning must have got the video card because it still shows up on the screen, but it is really dark and almost impossible to see. If it was for the lightning, it would probably still be going strong. Shortly after that, I replaced it with a silver slim, that I found on a local advertisement website. I got a heck of a deal on that one. It included 7 games, and a 8 mb memory card, and I got all that for $30. A month later, I got a great deal on a barely used 60gig PS3, which is what I wanted, because of it's complete compatibility with order game, since the 60gig (launch console) actually had the hardware to play older PS2 games, versus the later 80gig that only had software to make them compatible with some PS2 games.

Anyway, topic at hand, I will continue to play GT4 until the end of September, then I will fire up GT5P for the final month before GT5 to get used to the closer to GT5 physics, than GT4.

I will continue to play GT4 (and all of the others, for that matter) even when I get GT5 and a PS3.

It is my (tied) favorite game series of all time (Fire Emblem being the other.)

I'll be playing GT4 intill GT5 is released, like most of the results thus far.

However, if GT5 does not include multiple tracks or features or has some serious issues, then GT4 will keep being played!

Much like when GT3 was released, despite the jump in graphics, GT2 was still the better game. GT4 corrected that so now the wait's on to see if Polyphony will deliver!

i think the only time i'll stop playing GT4 is when my ps2 breaks. which hopefully won't be for a long time.:) of course i won't play on it as much when i get GT5.
