How many laps are you getting in the Sarth II 24-hour?

I ran the Sarth II 24-Hour a couple of weeks ago with a BMW V12 LMR. B-Spec Bob completed 437 laps, beating the Minolta Toyota and Sauber C9 by three laps.

I just ran it again this weekend (I wanted another Speed 8) with a Peugeot 905, and incredibly enough, Bob managed exactly the same lap total: 437. Pretty amazing. What are the chances of that?

It made me wonder what other peeps are getting from their B-Spec pilots in other cars, so:

If you've done this race, please post your lap total for the event, with a few details on the car you used.

(In my case, I ran Stage 4 power on both the Bimmer and the Peugeot. The Bimmer had R2/R1 tires, and went 8 laps between pit stops. On the "3" speed setting it cruised away from the C9 and 88C-V. I neglected to note what sort of lap times it was turning.

(The Peugeot started off with R2/R2 tires, but after building only a 40-second lead after 13 hours I got nervous and tried R3 Medium fronts. Fortunately, they just barely made 8 laps, while dropping lap times by about two seconds. The 905 then pulled away to win by over a lap. Lap times on R2/R2 were about 3:12 to 3:14. With R3/R2 they were around 3:10 to 3:12, once again on the "3" speed setting.

(Suspension was stock on the Bimmer, but I had to raise and soften the suspension on the Peugeot. Even then, sparks fly off the bottom of that thing all over the course.)

im doing it now. i put it on b-spec over night with the Polyphony F1, but when i checked in the morning it was 4 laps behind the 1st place 787B (Minolta was running but in 2nd place). cripes!! i watched my driver for a bit and the best laps he was pulling were about 3:15. it was on lap 123 when i told him to pit in for me to take over. i took it till lap 192 to have a 2 and a half lap lead. the difference was huge!! my driver was pitting every 3 laps, while i did every 5 and with times consistently under 2:55 from lap 150 or so (best time 2:51.4)
so in answer to your question....my driver is s**t. im gonna leave him overnight again for me to sort out the win in the morning. i'll let you know if he does any better.

I know this is an Old thread but both the LeSarthe venues are among my very favorites in the "Game" & somehow I missed it when it was first posted.

I drove approximately the first & last 2 hour Stints, letting the B-Spec driver do the middle portion.

Ride: TOYOTA GT-One (1101/1030 HP)[Used/"Black"]
Time: 24:00'33.655
Laps: 440
F/L: 2'55.751 (Lap #433)
Tyres: R-1/R-1

Hope this helps someone out! ...O.G. :D

I ran this totally in B-Spec and took me a while to find a good car for Bob to use and win, F1 died on the straight and spun out to boot .... however I settled on the extremely versatile Pescarolo C60 Race Car '03 .... ran R3/R2 and pitted every 8 Laps, did one 9 Lapper but ran out of fuel with only a few hundred metres to go, so didn't try that again, absolutely killed the competitionin this beast since I could run it mostly on 4 (but did switch back to 3 after a few hours to be safe) with this tyre combo and the lap times were way better than the AI, I'll have to go home and check but I'm pretty sure I ran about 440-something laps, can't recall the best lap, will have to see if it's recorded anywhere

Is anyone doing this race with stock power (a-spec or b-spec)? If so, how many laps are you getting?

I really want to do this race, but I haven't yet had an open weekend to do it properly. (4:00 p.m. Saturday through 4:00 p.m. Sunday, doing some on a-spec and then handing it over to my b-spec co-driver, etc.) I've got the Silk Cut Jaguar XJR-9 in the garage just waiting for the opportunity.

you shouldn't B-spec using the F1 on Sarthe, it isn't as fast on the straights.

I see why you are a student driver! I decreased the downforce by 5 front and rear on the F1 and it was fine on both Sarth 24HR races. For that matter, all my B-Spec races, I set up a car to finish the same lap as the second car. I don't know how many laps total, just that I was about 0'45 faster in Sarth I and about a half lap faster in Sarth II. If I remember right, I decresed my speed values to 2-Steady for Sarth I and 3-Cruise for Sarth II to keep from lapping the lead opponent.

Too many people experience problems on Sarth 24hr. I believe it is from HP loss over the miles travelled, and using 4-fast or 5-overtake, then leving it. The more times you lap cars, the higher the probablility with a bumpy road at 200+ MPH, of spinning out from the unequal drafting while passing the competition. The F1 car doesn't suffer HP loss or need of the refresher plan and body stiffening. It is actually the best car in my opinion to use on the Sarth 24hr for B-Spec. It also doesn't suffer as bad from the turbulance from the other cars while passing. Now for A-Spec, I would likely use the 2004 Playstation Pescaorolo C60 so I can shoot for 200 A-Spec points. It is likely the best car for power, stability, and tire wear. The Bently, Audi, other Pescarolo, BMW, or Toyota GT-One should also be able to get 200 points. Who know. Maybe the Toyota 7 can too? I haven't tried these yet in A-Spec.

"It doesn't matter by how far you win!"

or something like that was said in The Fast and the Furious

This is odd, you must have a screwy setup in your suspension some how. I think I pitted every 5 laps... Oh.... did you use 5-Push? That would explain both accounts. The harder you 'push' the car, the higher the tire wear. I was using 2 and 3 and got the 5 laps between pits. Besides, with 4 and 5, you have the increased risk of flying off the road, losing time and speed while B-Spec Boobyheaded Bob recovers.
