Has anybody noticed a real big difference at all by doing this or is it just a waist of space on the Memorystick?

it is good :)
quicker all round from initial start up to menu nav and between races. doesn't improve graphics though lol.
esp' useful if competing in time trials and constantly changing tuning setups between hotlaps, or if you want to advance the dealership cycle by entering races and then quitting before actual race start.
it is a luxury, rather than a necessity, but you will appreciate the difference.

It only has an effect if running from the UMD... those running the downloaded version won't notice anything (except almost a GB of wasted space on your GO or memory stick).

That's the good thing about the downloaded version.

The UMD still spins for a moment when you power on/off the psp.

I thought I could play UMD-less if I copied GT to the ms, but it still needs the UMD for some reason.

If you have custom firmware (CFW), you can switch to NO-UMD mode in the recovery menu. As a bonus, it also helps increase the battery life.

Yeah, I have a CFW psp and an OFW psp.

When installed it hardly uses the UMD :)

Yup. The OFW psp only needs the UMD to start the game that's why it spins when I power on. But I don't know why it spins again when I put my psp on stand-by mode.

Yeah but ISO's don't run The UMD, that's in the case on the shelf with my other games ;) Only used 1 time.

And running the install did nothing for me, but waist a gig of my MS.

DELETED!

It's a total waste of space when you're running a CFW.

Thank you guys for the info. I have removed it from my stick and I know for the future, its pointless when running ISO's

Thanks again.
