I'm thinking about getting a tattoo on my wrist, I've heard this can be the most painful place to get one? I am just wondering if anyone with a tattoo could tell me when it hurts (while getting it, after it's been done etc..) and what it feels like? Thanks :)

The wrist feels a little different from the rest of the arm. Most of the arm is a cakewalk, but the skin near the wrist is a little tougher. It's going to burn a bit when tattoo is being done and should only sting a little while the artist is resetting for the next line or getting more ink, but by no means is it the worst. I normally describe tattoo pain to people as an annoying pain, nothing horrible. While it's healing it should only be a little sore. You're going to "feel" the tattoo while it's healing. As far as placement on your wrist, bend your hand down so it wrinkles your wrist and forearm. Place the tattoo below the lowest crease you have. This will give you a better chance of having the ink stay in, in that area.👍

Post the tattoo you're thinking about, and when if you get it done.

Well, it hurts. Really bad. I have done a upper arm sleave over the shoulder and down on the chest. I havent done anything on my legs, so I can´t tell how bad it hurts there. Butif you pinch your skin you would get an idea if the skin is sensetive on that area, you could test to do that on your inner upper arm vs the shoulder! The sensation when beeing tattoed is somewhat of carving a dull knife and adding some burning sensation to it. Afterwards it feels lika a bad sun burn, ish. I dont know the size of your piece (mine took 14 hours, not straight though...) but if youar are tattoing an area wich have recently been done (lets say 30 minutes lunch break) it hurts like hell!
Before you you head over to the shop, make shure you have eaten a steady lunch/breakfast, and most important of all, dont be hung over or intoxicated, the blood is thinner when you have alcohol in it. It bleeds!!! Stay calm and collected and lay back for the pain! :)
Good luck!

Edit: Reading the post above, of course it´s very personal. Some doesent feel jack ****, some pass out...

Thanks for the feedback, I'm a big Nine Inch Nails fan and the tattoo will be related to them. I have two ideas, one is this simple design, and one is a more complex spiral similar to the one around halfway down this page

Imagine being a Wigan supporter.

They are getting their money back though ;)

If the decision depends on how much it hurts you probably aren't wanting one for the right reasons.

If I was you I wouldn't worry about the pain. Both of those are pretty simple and at most should take 20 minutes. The first one should only take like 10 minutes, if that.

What's the pricing like in the U.K.?

I haven't asked about prices yet, but fro what I've heard I don't think the first one will cost more than about £20

It's more out of curiosity, how much it hurts won't change my mind.

When I was 18 years old I also wanted a tattoo on my wrist. But my friend recommend me to make a big tattoo on my back. And I did it. It was hurt for me, trully.
Top of 10 hurt of tattoo I`ve found here.
P.S, this is my tatoo.

Oh noo! I got suckered into posting  :embarrassed:ops:

Yeah, don't drink beforehand. I have none but have been around the trade via two artist friends.

The pain won't be as bad as you might think, and if you like that sort of thing I'm sure it's worth it.

Worst I've had was below my shoulder blade on my back, fortunately that was the bottom of the tattoo as well. Everything else was, paraphrasing someone else, more irritating than outright painful.

Just noticed dates. :P
