How the hell do I...

Exploit the horsepower glitch in GT2? Info on the net for this was on years ago and well documented, but I can't find anything about it now. It was pretty well documented. What would happen is you had to buy your upgrades (for the engine) a certain way to have the glitch take effect. Eventually you'd have a horsepower boost of about 20% more then you were supposed to. If you downgraded, then you would lose the "extra" power and have to start from scratch.

Horsepower glitch? I'm gonna assume you're talking about the one that can put thousands of horses in your engine? Just keep doing top speed, 400m and 1000m tests over and over. Save your game after each one. Eventually you should have a car in your garage that is all messed up.

Sometimes, it'll be one of your regular cars (say...a Honda Accord) will all the sudden have way too much horsepower. At the most severe, the game can actually put a "mystery car" in your garage that doesn't appear in the game and has an odd shape & color.

Most players (myself included) have found these super-cars to be useless. You try and race them but they won't do anything. Or maybe they'll go fast...in reverse only. But there was one thread I read awhile back in which the dude actually got it to work---albeit, he got one of these cars to actually drive with success. If I remember where I read this, I'll post it here at some point.

Dont' they erase your whole garage if you save with them or something?

On a slightily different note, in GT1 it says all of my cars have like over 5000 lb ft of torque in the specs when they only have 500.

Oh yeah I forgot about that part :sly: oops.

Actually, it doesn't always screw up your entire garage...I've had a couple garages wiped out and 3 that "survived". One time I caught the thief early...I did a top speed run, went to my garage immediately after (without saving) and voila...the Honda Accord wagon at the top of my garage had just over a thousand horses. I immediately restarted my PS2 and the Accord was back to normal...so it doesn't always get you.

Never heard of that glitch in GT1...odd. :odd:

Yeah, and no I'm not missing the decimal point. I decided that if I was going to act like a car expert in school I better know some more about the mechanics and started studying my specs. Everything was fine until I got to the tq. 5842.81 lb ft? WTF?!

''ZOMG ITS the HORSEPOWER MONSTER ITS GONNA KILL MY BEATUIFUL GARAGEZZZ!!1!1!1''

But then I reset my PSOne, and checked again.... the Lancer and all of the other cars still had this glitch.

''Is it true? All my cars have 5000 lb ft? WOOHOOO!!!!!1!11''

I went to race. in the starting line-up it clearly stated ''392 lb-ft''

It still has this gltich today, and always does.... odd.

Off topic, but:
Once I did that, and my Escudo duplicated, again and again, and had 0 horses. I tried it and the Escudo went backwards, the game blacked out, and I had to start over.

I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I was at 91.1%!!!!!1!!11111"

I have heard of a 'superEscudo glitch' when your Escudo has 10,000's of horses and works. Finishes test course in under 20 seconds.

I remember this, it has something to do with the HKS Dragster 180SX(?).
You have a car in the top slot of your garage and take the 180SX to the test
course and the car will have alot of horsepower. But if I remember right you
needed verson 1.0 of GT2 for it to work right because they fixed it in 1.1 and
1.2. I don't remember where I saw it, maybe at gameFAQs or something like that.

Is this ^ the glitch of which you speak?
There is one other "glitch" that appears in even the Greatest Hits version of the game.
If you buy your horse power upgrades but do not equip them, you can as much as 10 HP over what is "allowed" by the HP limit.
I've run many 295HP limit races with cars with a bit over 300HP.

Lots of people say that, I don't believe it. I've seen the garage/machine test bug strike my cars...and I've got Greatest Hits 1.2. Granted, it took LOTS of machine tests before it happened. In any event...stick to the mantra:

If you're doing tests, do not save. Check your garage before you save. Personally, I have a separate memory card that I do all my tests on, and this card is not associated with any of my actual games...
