How do you become a moderator? as you know I'm very new but I see like all these people that are moderators. I just kind dont understand how they became them.

At Jordan's discretion (sp?).

He chooses who he wants when neccesary. E.g. recentley Jimmy Enslashay was made a modertaor due to the need for a dedicated GTA forum moderator.

I am sure that Jordan invites you to become a moderator. I don't think we need any moderators right now. The moderators we have a doing a fine job.

Sorry for the same content in my post. I didn't see the one above me.

Well, amongst the first things you need to do is familiarise yourself with the Acceptable Use Policy and the Terms of Service. The latter of which says:
The Terms of Service
Do not ask to become a moderator. You will only be contacted privately about moderation privileges.

Basically, who becomes a moderator is entirely up to Jordan. Even the other Mods do not have a say in it - although we have in the past nominated someone who may have a specific contribution to make. Other than that, it's about the contribution that you as a member make to the Planet. Your attitude to new members, the manner in which you deal with people arguing against you, how helpful and understanding you are. And maturity plays a big part in it. Jordan looks for people who can help him to run the site, and whom he can trust to uphold the site's, and his, values.

Moderators have powers limited to a single forum or group of fora. Super Moderators have powers limited to the entire site. Administrators whup their asses and Jordan is the boss of all.

Premium Members are ordinary schmoes with no powers at all (other than daan, who is unfeasibly tall) and have paid for some extra features, as detailed in the News section.

Premium Member's are not moderators. They pay to get extra services. Moderators only moderate one forum or a few forum's. Super Moderators moderate all of GTPlanet. I might have the moderator and super moderator backward, but you can switch the name around if I have them mixed up.

Whoops!. Double subject. I am slow on the refresh. I will hit refresh before I post.

What recently happened is I had a lot of things that I wanted to happen with the GTA Forum. I was well-behaved, polite, and they are 2 things that Jordan likes in a User. I also suggest you use proper Grammar. It sounds annoying to do now, but using proper grammar gains you more respect from people on the Forums, your posts become easier to read, and so forth.

Just be well-behaved, try to help out, but don't over-do it. I could say that it almost always takes a fair bit of time to become a Moderator, but it only took 4 months for me.

Just take these tips to heart. ;)

Don't forget spelling. ;)

Uhh, you're making things up. Look. No spelling mistake!

I was at school, and it was the last post I made before we played Enemy Territory, and I couldn't miss a second of that game, so I rushed through that.

Basically, what they said is it.
Pretty much
~Be polite
~Don't swear or to be rude to someone else (Same as polite)
~Be familiar with Terms of Service, Rules, and that
~Help members out (No flaming)
~No Spamming (Big no no)

Anyone who blatantly asks to become a Moderator usually has little chance of actually becoming one. And, Jordan will decide when a Forum needs a Moderator.

So be good kiddies, and you might just get your chance.

It depends on how much you're willing to spend.

Take a tip from Jimmy.
1) Find a little moderated forum.
2) Become a devout member of that forum.
3) Be nice to all and anyone.
4) Complain there is no mod, BUT do not mention you want to be one.

I doubt it will work, but if anyone fancies re-registering and trying be my guest.

You could always try to demand being a mod.. I remember a couple of retards trying.. Didn't work out all too well IIRC

 I know and just to let you and everyone know I was kinda messing around since I think Jordan already has the Automotive area under control. :D

Not nice.

I actually hadn't spoken about it for ages when I got offered. And I didn't really want to become a Moderator, I just had a heap of things that I thought would be great to have done. But the offer came up, and I was extremely happy about it.

But still, you're an evil man, Evan!
