How to change BOP performance?

So I was watching a really good youtuber z28 online in one of his videos in Japan and he points out that his Citreon wasn't as powerful because the engine wasn't upgraded with mileage points yet. He said he noticed that even though BOP is supposed to remove the upgrades cars still felt faster after the upgrade. I never bothered to upgrade because I only play in sport mode. Is this true? Has anyone else noticed cars performing better in BOP races after upgrading the engine?

well seeing as some of the cars in (for example) gr.3 actually get an upgrade to power / weight reduction instead of getting downgraded it would be a good idea to purchase the upgrades if you want your car to be BOP'ed correctly.

It doesn’t matter if you upgrade or not for the dailies, everyone gets the same performance regardless

Would definitely explain why I'm always always a few seconds off the Top 10 :D. I also watch Z28 regularly, and while he is a very good racer (one of the top Americans with S/S rating), he sometimes starts blathering on his stream, theorising about this, and that. His observations, however, are usually "feelycrafty", and anecdotal at best.

I would be surprised if BoP values were not based on the car’s default values.
It would really be a stupid thing to do.
Of course not. Except for TCS, and Break Balance every other "Car Setting" is locked, as can easily be checked.

I don't know what BOP means......................
You have 500+ messages on a forum dedicated to racing games, and don't know what balance of power is? I find that hard to believe, since it's nothing GT has invented, but a term commonly used in motorsports.

Would have just been easier to tell him what it meant instead of being condesending and wasting your time writing rude comments that no one cares about! ;) cheers!

I don't come on line that often and don't know all the abbreviations so when I see one which I don't know and want to know I ask. simples really.:lol::lol: I have never heard it called bop yes I have heard balance of power before but I didn't put two and two together. My Bad.

Without a video comparison, this thread is pointless. Whatever he "feels" is meaningless.

Interesting.. Someone needs to test a stock car with BoP on then a fully upgraded version with BoP on and see if there is a noticeable lap time difference.
I can't try until tomorrow.

I actually did a race earlier with that scenario, the bhp and weight was exactly the same on both (with BoP on) but I didn't take note of times.

Let us know if to have time for this ... will try too but I think I upgraded most the g3 g4 cars I use already

I still think they need to automate leveling. Waiting for them to address the imbalance manually takes forever, assuming they are even considering it. Ans, if they do make adjustments, we have to hope that dev does the job right.

Just automate it and let data do the balancing.

The FIA instituted a BOP algorithm for the GTE class in the 2017 WEC season (probably a result of handing Ford a win at Le Mans in 2016 through bad BOP). PD has access to way more data than would be available for WEC/GTE. PD should leverage their FIA partnership and adapt this algorithm for each class in GTS. Additionally, the FIA could use GTS to refine the algorithm and make it better for the future of actual racing.

Even better, since this is virtual world rather than a real one, the game could balance the cars on it's own based on lap time gaps between cars.
