How to earn decent money after level 20?

With the GT1 races only earning you 23,000 each win, how do you afford to buy a few million credit cars without grinding races?

Or is this the point so you cough up more cash in the Playstation store?

Hmm not sure.

You know You can sell any car + upgrades back to the dealer for the same amount you purchased.

Quite nice for getting a one off car, winning an event, posting up a good autolog time and then flog it back.

Not sure about grinding. Grinding to me involves a series of races that mentally tax your brain by the shear boring repetitiveness.
As I find the events to be both varied and fun and also a challenge. I don't think personally I will reach a grind stage.

I just hope they offer more levels via patch/DLC (most likely the latter) to allow us to crank some more money. Although the cars you buy in DLC dont cost you anything from the dealership >.>...
I know on the PC version there is a mod that adds levels all the way to 50 with some crazy amount of exp required. Plus a ton of money along the way.

I reckon that the level will increase over time, judging by the fact it mentions 'currently allowed level' in places. There was also higher levels in shift 1 and level 20 is not hard to reach early in the game ( the drift events help massively towards this).

An extra 5k for hard level ain't going to help much. I want to buy lots of cars, not like GT5 collection numbers, just the cars I would like in real life.

Anyone completed the GT1 championship yet? Any big cash prizes for winning that?

the best way is doing again all the career with different cars.. and that is what i'm doing, also because with the new feeling of patch 1.02 it's a new game. Goal: improve times..autolog is amazing for giving a purpose in grinding. On Hard off course.

I have about 30-40 cars in my lot ($8.5 million earnings so far). I've got a works Veyron, works Porsche 918, works LP640, works Huayra, 4-5 GT3 cars, a couple of GT1 cars, and a bunch of d and c class cars with some b class thrown in there. I didn't have much grinding to do - I did replay many races more than once but it was fun because I was racing against times on my autolog wall.

Money is the main issue why I stopped playing after I completed the career.

I was going for platinum and I only have 3 trophies left out of which one is for earning 10 million. I had 6.5 million at the end and just don't see myself racing the same race on Silverstone for 22k 100 times in a row.

And then they released 2 DLC's and there is no way to earn more money either. Disappointing. Been playing F1 2010 for a while now hoping that SMS do add something that lets you earn money in more interesting ways.

And before you bash me - I like Shift2, it's a cool game but I don't want to replay the career levels. I would rather set up my custom quick races. But, as you all know, they pay nothing, which IMO is stupid.

Ive not even run all races yet, I keep going back and racing my favorites.
( no idea how many times I've run the invitation c, and the works race around shanghai in my radical)

And . I've tried most gt1/3 by swapping them around in my garage.

But I guess if you really want to own everything, it's going to take a lot of racing... Does online pay well ?

Just for discussion...
What is the fasination with play money? To each their own but my interest is in the S2U racing challenges - I don't even pay attention to the payouts. It was a little different in gt5 as it was more about acquiring cars and less about racing (other than grinding). S2U you need less cash as you can sell for what you paid in most cases.

I love the racing aspect of Shift2, especially after the second patch. It's just that I also like trophies. Half of my goals is usually finishing the game and having fun, and the second half plat'ing it. Just as a proof to myself. I do try and platinum whenever I can but I don't if it requires ridiculous amount of time and no fun.

I bought Shift2 primarily for the racing aspect and because I was sick of TDU2. Trophies are just a bonus for me. I happened to get them all apart from 3. So why not try and get those 3 too if I want? Of course, life doesn't stop if I don't. I've got 5 games where I have 1 or 2 trophies missing for platinum. But some are stupid, like finishing all levels on Tier 1 in Medal Of Honor. That means finishing the whole game again on the very highest difficulty. I know I could do it but it's just not worth it.

So, to answer your question - it's not about the in-game money. I have enough of it. It's about getting the trophy. I'll buy the 2 DLC's when the store is back anyway, 'cause I want to race old cars and I want to drag race. But I also want to earn money in those events and get the damn platinum :)

Hope that answers your question.

Yes, I am not much of a gamer... just a racing game/sim nut. I never knew there was a common achievement as you put "plat'ing it".
I guess most of my sim racing over the years has been on the computer where the sim racing is centered around time trials and race/championship points. The console games seem to get more into achievements (money/credits, trophy's, etc.). My sole purpose of playing is the racing experience the rest if fluff.
I never did try to understand the need for paint chips, horns, museum cards, etc.. All this, in my opinion, leads to the arcade label by some - which in the case of S2U is not deserved.
Race On!

10 GT1 races (championship) on hard gives you 420000 - you just have to do 6 championships with 6 diferent cars and you have the trophy

I remember when games could not be finished in a day. Nowadays is all about graphics and reaching the end.

I don't get that I pay good money for a game it better lasts even if its at cost of replay. Obviously in racing games the replay value is ok since no race is equal.

If you play s2u just to reach the end and trophies I think you miss all the fun. It's like ignoring #autolog and that is considered heresy :D

Well to be honest Autolog is getting on my nerves... I spend 1 hour to try and beat someones time - I do it and after 10 minutes the game tells me that person has just beat my time again:ouch::ouch::ouch::banghead:

:D

👍 Autolog is a huge roadblock to finishing this game :banghead:

The fact that you don't lose any money unless you do the works conversion is a big step in the right direction.
I am afraid that EA is managing the payout in this way in the hopes of getting a few more 'time save packs' sold.
In my opinion they should make everything free though and for gaming purposes find some other way to unlock cars. This could be based on levels or events (reach modern A and you unlock all modern A cars or something like that).
The fact that it's nearly impossible ruins the replay value of the game. If the complete collection of cars was within reach it would add to the replay value.
Besides that, the replay value of the game is kind of guaranteed by autolog.

Can i add some of u on xboxlive? No friend there :-) all friend have a ps3 and not racefans. My tag is grimmi3. Feel feer to add me :-)
OT: have completed 31% completed, level 20 and not short of money. Degrade cars u do not use and buy new ones.

Big diff with GT5 is that you cannot call earning money in S2 grinding. The racing is way to much fun, so money will come without knowing!
