Welcome To My GT5 Guide
I am new to this forum and decided to make a contribution.
Starting The Game
You've just started the game and gone through the guide, what do I do first? Well, as already explained you will find the used car dealership,(if you have purchased the car packs please read the next paragraph)go into there and you should find a Toyota MR2, buy this car as it will be what you start out with in the huge world of Gran Turismo. Now you of course have your A-Spec and B-Spec events, you probably will not want to do B-Spec until you are further into the game. So go into the A-Spec and look at the events you are eligible to compete in. Race in the Sunday Cup to earn your first sum of money. I'm not going to explain how to do the whole career as this is just how to get started. Use this Toyota for the other Beginner events TIP: start out with all of your assists on and gradually lower them- Assists are Traction Control (makes you not spin) and ABS(Anti Lock Brake System- means you dont lock up your brakes- and the racing line, you will gradually develop your own racing line.
If You Have The Car Packs
Now, if you have the car packs that are Available on Playstation Network (PSN) you may want to use the cars like the Red Bull X2011 to do all of your career events because it is crazily fast, although if you want to race actual cars and do you career realistically don't pay any attention to this.TIP: To install your car packs load up Gran Turismo 5 (GT5)and select the downloadable content icon (the furthest right icon) and install them from there.
Money Making
If you have PSN (Playstation Network) then simply race in seasonal events (if you don't have the car packs then don't do this untill you have about 200,000 credits and a good car) and race in these, you get huge money rewards and XP although the events are quite hard so look for guides on the internet on how to win them. If Playstation Network is not available to you then you will have to continously do races that earn a lot of money over and over again (once you've unlocked the extreme series the Like The Wind event is brilliant for making money-go on the Indianapolis race) that's generally the best ways of making money although there are other ways.
If, as previously stated, you have 200,000 credits and a good car to race A-Spec in then buy a BMW M5 and tune it with racing soft tires and, if it is not already 400PP (Performance Points-you can check how much of these you have by looking at your car and reading the information next to it) TIP-If you have more than 400PP (Performance Points) then if you look at your car and go into the setting you should find on the left side of the screen an engine option, select this, now you should find a power limiter with an icon to the right of it. Select this icon and limit your power so you dont have as much PP (Performance Points remember!) it will show you how much PP you currently have while your changing the power limiter.
Cars
I've got lots of cash, what should I do? If you have lots of cash and no car that is eligible for your A-Spec level events (unless you do seasonal events) then try buy a car that will help you with A-Spec, read the next paragraph i you want a list o useful cars. If you have got a good car to race A-Spec with (or, as previously stated, you do seasonal events) then you'll want to buy a car to have some fun in! don't get too carried away though because when you don't have the chance to do seasonal events credits to become quite tight in the later levels. So save about 100,000 credits and buy a car using your remaining cash. TIP:fully tuning your car is quite a good idea as sometimes, your car will be able to compete in your current A-Spec series
Best cars for A-Spec:
Nissan GT-R (R35)-It is an incredibly useful car and it's also very fast
Ferrari 458 Italia-It handles brilliantly and is useful when you need a fast car to compete with against other cars like Lamborghini's and other Ferrari's
Nissan GT-R (R35) TC- the race version of the stock GT-R, it is incredibly fast and handles amazingly
TIP: If you keep on sliding round the corners but can keep up with your opponents on the straights then buy racing soft tires which are available in the tuning section (be careful when your doing this in seasonal events as there is usually tire limitations)
USEFUL FACT: Soft tyres give the most grip while Medium give less and Hard the least. When you start to race in Endurance Races you will have to pick Hard tires as, although they give the least grip they last longer than Medium and Soft tires (Soft tires being the ones that last the shortest) but don't worry because tire wear only happens when you unlock Endurance Events.
How To Get The Best Experience Out Of GT5
First, follow the tip in the STARTING THE GAME section, as turning off your assists really lets you dive into the game head first and get a great experience, but don't worry if you can't drive like this as it is your choice how much assists you use.
Get a wheel, these will improve your game play and our very fun to use. I recommend using a Logitech G27 as it has a proper H Pattern gearbox with a clutch and has realistic physics. Usually wheels make you faster round tracks believe it or not!
If you go into the Track Options when you're about to race you should find a rectangular box that says grip loss in wet conditions or something similar to grip loss, change this from low to real so it is realistic. As I have already said, this is your opinion to do this and if you can't cope with those settings then keep it on low.
