How to use skins without replacing default skins?

Whenever, I use a new skin, I end up replacing a defualt skin with the new skin I want, Darin was suppose to explain this to me, but I he forgot. So can someone please please explain?

Name the new one differently from the old, obviously, then when you click on Colours in your garage, there will be a button at the very bottom of the screen that will open a list of all the skins for that car.

The skins have to begin with the car's model in order to show up.
Basically, the first letters have to be XR, or what have you.
