How Will We Be Able To Customize Online Races?

I know there was a lot of speculation when GT6 was first announced. Have we gotten any more details on how the online races can be configured? Can we specify multiple cars that are eligible to race? Can we customize bolt on parts per car? I think it would be awesome to be able to find, say, three cars that are pretty close in performance and tweak the hp and weight until they are all almost able to put down identical times by a skilled driver and then let the drivers pick their favorite. As it stands today, there is always one car that is clearly better than the others because you cannot tweak it on a car by car basis. If there has been any news on this front, please let me know.

I dont remember where, but time attack and drift settings have been mentioned... months ago.

I wish we knew more about the time trial and drift features of online.
