The title says the most. How would real-life racers do on each of Gran Turismo 5's "Original Courses"? Would Jeff Gordon dominate High Speed Ring? Would Sebastian Vettel struggle at Grand Valley Speedway?

What real-life racers do you think would be great - and terrible - at each of GT5's Original Circuits?

Here is a list of Original Circuits for reference:

Grand Valley Speedway (Variations: Full Course, East, Reverse, East Reverse)
Cape Ring (Variations: Full Course, Periphery, Inside, North, South)
High Speed Ring (Variations: Forward, Reverse)
Autumn Ring (Variations: Full, Mini, Full Reverse, Mini Reverse)
Deep Forest Raceway (Variations: Forward, Reverse)
Eiger Nordwand (Variations: Forward, Reverse)
Trial Mountain (Variations: Forward, Reverse)

I did not include SSRX as it is a real-life location, or Kart Space as it is a karting track.

Honestly if i had billions of dollars i would build either deep forest or high speed ring. Either is a great track for many reasons. I think they both offer genuine challenges and would be a terrific venue for real racing. I also would build a custom track i've always had an idea for. What a great job.

That is a really impossible question to ask. I guess if they were good at those tracks via GT5 then maybe that would translate in real life?

SSRX is a real-life location?

This is very much impossible to be proven, ever, but my guess is S.Vettel would maybe dominate S. Loeb on tracks like Grand Valley but it would be the opposite on dirt tracks?

What a strange question. Until they drive them how are we supposed to know where drivers would do well?

Top drivers don't necessarily do well on individual tracks, rather they are masters of setting up their car in a way they feel will benefit the majority of turns on a specific track to their driving style. Anyone of the best drivers in the world can pretty quickly learn a track, some are obviously easier than others, I'm not saying track experience doesn't make a difference but it's really down to the driver knowing how to drive his car.

One track that comes to mind that is super tricky is Shanghai GP track in China, which even the pros find really hard to nail perfectly lap after lap. So having watched someone like S. Vettel or F. Alonso repeatedly outpace their teammate, I'm sure the same guys that are dominating in any racing series would have no problems standing on top of the podium in any of GT5's tracks.

There are some race drivers here on gtp, having both gt5 and RL experience. So maybe someone like ChrisTheDude could tell wether he has some favorites or if there are tracks/sections of GT original's that is giving them a hard time.

Nope. I think he's getting confused because Kaz said some of the background scenes were based on real locations. The track itself certainly isn't though.

People that have been to Nurburgring IRL say playing GT5 helped them perpare a lot. Hell Kaz did it before his 24hr race there.

I thought the same, since I heard the 'based on...' quote from Kaz aswell. I think it was based on the Harbour at that place the staff (or part of it) moved after the Tsunami and Power plant catastrophies in Japan last year.

So would R. Schumacher
