Hey I'm new to his forum, just getting into racing simulators now. Anyway after previously owning GT3 and GT4 on ps2, I upgraded to the ps3(40gb) and bought GT5:P. Now that I've got a race seat and wheel I'm considering buying another ps2($100 AU) just to play GT3/4 games on. Am I wasting my money? Or is it worth playing GT3/4 with a race seat and wheel.

Cheers,
Ryan.

I cant really comment on the racing seat because I have never had one, i did however get a wheel and pedals to play GT4 on, and that was enough, Id say go for it, but it has to be said - make sure that the wheel and seat is compatible with ps2.

Look at all the DFT & G25 elitists here. :P

About your buying another PS2 to play GT3 or GT4 on, get one because it's definitely NOT a waste of money to get a spare PS2 so you can play your old PS2 titles, especially if your PS3 can't play them (like the 40Gb which can't)!!

That's one of the main reasons that people still keep their PS2's, and they just go out and buy the PS3. 👍 Right at the moment it's nearly cheaper to go and get a NEW 80Gb and a spare PS2 than it is to go and get a used 60Gb from EB Games. :odd: Actually it is, the new one you get 2 games with, the used one, you get squat.

yeah it is definitely worth it. I have my PS2 working again thanks to my friend letting me strip his PS2 for parts since he has a legacy PS3. I can play GT3 and GT4 again!!!

Cockpits make the game more realistic. It may also help you get better times as a wheel is more precise than a gamepad.

It's all preference though, if you know someone that has a wheel see if they will let you use it for a week or so.

Take all this with a grain of salt, tho. I bought a wheel awhile back when I was playing GT3 and found myself SUCKING massively. I couldn't even make a clean lap at Stupor Speedway in a weak car without almost going into a spin. Granted, it was a cheaper Mad Katz wheel, instead of a GT Force or whatever, but I doubt I'd be much better if I had something more expensive.

It all has to do with what you're good at. I'm good at using a DS2. I wish I were good with wheels, but I'm not. :dunce:

if you try a DFP orso, it wil go much better, i have a DFP and a zolid:crazy:, i suck with the zolid, and with the DFP...

Regardless of the wheel you're using, if you used to be a "licence gold level" player with the DS2 don't expect to be beating any of your old lap times with a wheel on the first day. During the first week, perhaps in FF cars that benefit from the delicate steering. During the first month you may be getting close with most cars.

i used to be a "licence gold level" player with the DS2 until last year, now i am crushing my DS2 records with the DFP, cheap wheels suck,
and at the first day i was only 2 seconds slower.
