I can't change from A-spec to B-spec

Does anyone have the Japanese version of GT4?

Can you change from A-spec to B-spec when you go into the pits.

I have tried every button, I have gone to options. Nothing.

All I get when I pull into the pits is the options for tyres and refueling.

Am I missing something here?

Please help, because I would go mad doing a 24 hour race by myself.

Cheers.

You "should" be able to scroll down when you pit and the bottom option is "A-spec"-"B-spec".
Be aware that if you are seeking the A-Spec points, you must drive the entire race in A-Spec.

Thanks a lot. I will try that.

A-spec points don't really mean that much to me, but I do try to drive a car that is a weaker than the AIto give myself a challenge.

If I am faster than 1 second per minute than the AI then i get a slower car or make the car I have weaker.

Okay, I have checked and there is nothing, repeat, nothing that allows me to change from B-spec to a-spec or vice versa in the middle of a race.

This must be for the Japanese version of the game. It sucks!!

Does anyone else have the Japanese version? If so, if I am still missing something, please let me know.

Cheers.

you sure?? it's in the pop-up menu when you go to the pits..,

may i just ask, do you understand Japanese?? because you keep saying that you have a Japanese copy of GT4..,

Are you starting from A-Spec and wanting to change to B-Bertrand?

Or are you starting from B-Spec and wanting to change to A-Spec?

If it is the latter, then make sure you have your licenses.

do you see this one? :)

All I see is:

Front Tyres
Rear Tyres
Refuel

Three options, that's it. Bloody frustrating.

I have tried starting with a-spec and starting with b-spec. Either/or, everytime I pull into the pits, I just get these three options.

And I can read enough Japanese to know what it is telling me.

We can't help you because we've never heard of this problem before. It's alien to us. If I were you I would try these 2 things.

1. Do a race, and take a pitstop. When the menu rises up for tires, fuel, and such, take a picture of it and post it here. This way, we can see exactly what you are encountering. Maybe some one here might see something relevant to the problem and we'll be able to help you.

2. Try buying, borrowing, or renting another GT4 disc. See if that one is any different.

...there's gotta be something we're missing here...

Nobody seems to have pointed this out yet, but as far as I remember the switch can't be done in the Japanese version. I may be wrong but it's certainly a possibility.

I think it's true mate.

I searched all over the web and finally came across a history of versions of GT4.

The first version released was in Japan.

The second version was released in America. With an added option of changing from a-spec to b-spec in races.

So, there we are. Thanks to all those who posted replies.

By God, it's going to be a looooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg haul when I get around to the 24 hour races.

Good to hear that the problem was solved! But a long haul, why so? You can always use B-Spec right from the beginning.

i have a better idea!! why don't you bring along 2 or 3 of your friends to play those 24h enduros in A-Spec.., that way it would REALLY feel like a Le Mans 24H race.., you know, when one of you is racing, the others are sleeping/resting, chow-ing, going to the bathroom, etc.., :D (BTW has anyone ever tried this??)

That's actually a GREAT idea. Never thought of that myself. 💡

Of course problems can arise. Such an event would have to be pre-planned. It could get interrupted in a number of ways. Kids or girlfriend might need a ride to Chuck E. Cheese or soccer practice. One of the friends could be on your level, but another could potentially be an average or sucky driver... one of your friends could show up stoned or drunk :banghead: and totally blow your game-plan. Your spouse or girl (or guy!) might get jealous that you're spending so much time in front of the TV....

....but assuming none of these things happens....!

just joking guys..it's a great idea..wonder if anyone here has tried it.

This is something I want to try, but my friend(s) all kinda suck at GT4. I tell them that if they want to do it, we're all going to have to spend some time practicing.

Of course, there's one guy I know that wants to do all three of the 24-hour races back-to-back-to-back. I tell him that he's completely nuts.

Get 24 people to drive for an hour, its that easy.
its only one Hour. haha

 it would be funny if there was just like 2 great drivers and 22 sucky drivers!

But that's actually another thought. I wonder if over in Japan they have 24-hour competitions where different drivers take the wheel against ai or each other. I know back in the 80's we used to do slot-car races that lasted an hour or so with multiple drivers.

I think that just doing two hours, then leaving the playstation on and walking away for a while would be good.

This is only for guys who live by themselves like me.

I would be courting disaster if you had a toddler or even a girlfriend who accidentially pressed the start button whilst she was dusting around the sofa lol.

Well how about having 2 drivers and switching only at the pits? That would be so real-er. And yeah, your family will love to turn off the PS2 more than you. Your family: No! I have to turn this game off! It could start a fire!(sees screen) 24 Hours???
In their head: I love pressing buttons.👍

You can have three drivers doing 8 hour drives which would leave the other two to rest and eat. Which means all you need is two other good drivers.
I don't think I'm gonna ever try an 24 hour edurance any time soon.

As I work in Japan as an English teacher, I'm gonna save it for the spring vacation in August.

Because I don't wanna leave my house with the ps2 still on. Someone above talking about causing a fire scared me ;-)
