I cant play the best racing game on the planet

I did a search first but couldnt find the answer. Tracks wont load in arcade or simulation. All I get is a black screen with a white flashing square in the left corner....so I wait...5 minutes....10 minutes....30 minutes....a hour and still just a black screen with the flashing white square. Took the game back last night to Gamezone and got a new one. Excited about finally playing the game...exact same thing happens:ouch: This is a PS2 and has no problem with any other game Ive ever played in it.

Any suggestions please??????

Have you tried the game on another PS2?
That would be my first step.
Secondly, do your other games work in your PS2?
That should answer both major questions in short order.
Is you PS2 modded?
Have you had any problems with it?
Is it a Generation 1 PS2 (front load) or a Generation 2 PS2(top load)?
If you have an older Front loader, it may be time to replace it.
It will limp along for a very long time before it gives up.

Apparently the problem is with the console. I was able to search more in depth to find similiar problems. I'll talk to the Video Store and see if they will exchange. Thanks for the help.

yeah, ive had the same problem, but, mine is the disc. maybe the disc oyu bought was used? and wasnt well cleaned? and if it is your console, just use my axe method #2, (ill list all three, just so you can try them all)
BTW, dont try any of these if you are scared of losing something, i havent done these that much times, but #1 has never seemed to make things worse.

1-take axe, hold 4 inches away from CD, spray around in circles until the disc is fully glossed with axe. lay it shiney side up for 3 minutes, then wipe off axe with a piece of toilet paper, be sure to be gentle tho, the disk is very weak at this point.

2-repeat step 1, but dont wipe off the disc, and only let disc sit for 10 seconds. this is how i clean my PS2 (slimline) lens.

3-Spray axe over all CD merchandise/PS2 etc. but make sure it mists over everything, so you dont have any access axe to wipe off

Or you could just do it the right way and buy a cd\lense cleaner kit for a whopping 6 bucks.

What in Sam Hill is axe? Please tell me it's not cologne.
"My GT3 disk doesn't play anymore but the chicks love it."
I've used a fine plastic polish (available at NAPA) to polish fine scratches out of my disc several times. I've also used car wax.
