Whenever I stare at someone with a straight face they laugh and I try to stifle a smile. I want to know if I'm not the only one.

1. Find someone who speaks your language and can keep a straight face normally.
2. Put on a straight face.
3. Stare at them.
4. Nothing would happen or both of you would start to grin or laugh.

Probably because the consensus is that it's strange to stare at each other....

I grin because I'm doing it for humour.

When I walk past people or I usually just say "hi there" or "how's it going" while looking at them and then look straight and walk on my way. If your staring at somebody's face they are probably laughing because they are embarrassed or uncomfortable.

Making a glance at someone you clearly know is a way of maintaining amicability with them so it's natural. However, staring at someone else's face with one's straight eyes itself is a strange thing and it should never happen in the path of facial communications between you and someone you have not associated(or acquainted) with before - if you only see people do it internally with others without any conversation, that's just an exchange of one's hostility without ground reason.

its like if you stare a dog in the eyes they get nervous and eventually aggressive

Staring at people can give a number of signals to that person who may be uncomfortable with it. A nervous and stare-breaking reaction would be to laugh. If you stare at the opposite sex it could signal attraction (possibly aggressive in the wrong situation). A stare could also be construed as aggressive or dominant, this is the same for animals or us.

On the other hand, if you stare at the walls then you're probably in a cell for the public's protection and you eat flies. ;)

HAHAHA Excellent

You need to film this, getting arkward reaction of people by making them uncomfortable 👍

Yellowbird: too long in Japan? Though it is kind of unpolite to stare at people's faces for no reason if you don't have a conversation or sitting at the same table, but it is not considered a absolute no-go.
It also can mean good stuff, like attractivness, admire,.... But different place, different customs ;)
Also the OP didn't say how long he was staring at people, though staring already means some time.

I would only do that on chicks eitherway.
The OP will stop this when he stares at a dude who will either ask him out, or he gets punched in the face

I always slowly lick my lips and then blow a kiss whenever someone stares at me. Gets pretty awkward when I sit across from Grandma for Thanksgiving Dinner.

It's the opposite for me....if there are like two people walking, and one is laughing about something, and they look at me, they frown.
