Ok, I think it began when I installed the webcam. Now, for some reason, that I dont know, it doesnt shut down by itself. Instead, it just sits at the shut down screen forever. I have also checked into the list of peripherals, and there is a yellow sign under video, sound and videogames. I tried looking for that driver, but it always asks me for a windows 98 cd. The thing is that my PC didnt come with a Win98 cd. It came pre-built and has a recovery cd instead. Right now, it is disabled. I hope it doesnt do the same thing.

Go to Start > Run > type in "MSCONFIG" (without the quotes, of course). Click on the General tab > click on Advanced. Check the box next to Disable Fast Shutdown > click OK > reboot.

As for the other problem you have, what is the exact device that is displaying a warning?

If anyone knows the answer:

I thought OEMs have to supply the full Windows CD with every computer they sell? Those "Recovery" CDs are a joke.

It's a licensing thing. Microsoft told the vendors that they had to sell OEM licenses, and that they could not supply an unconfigured copy of the operating system.

The Recovery CD is supposed to have a proper build of the operating system for the PC as it was when it left the factory. Unfortunately though, some vendors are lazier than others, and therefore their recovery CDs are less effective than others.

At their best, recovery CDs are a proper build of the operating system, with the proper drivers preinstalled, and the whole thing is only one reboot. Some, after the fourth or fifth reboot, get a little tiresome.

My Sony VAIO. Recovery CD, is what I reformatted with. I also have a System Recovery CD. Which I recovered old programs with. It came with my VAIO.

It shut down normally.
Tonight, when I booted it up, a pop-up message appeared, asking me for the damn Win98cd. The PC thinks it needs new drivers for the "new" thing. This new thing, I dont know what it is. It is listed under video, sound and multimedia, even though I have already checked and the line for my webcam is already there. My webcam has been properly installed.

Have you tried giving it the recovery CD instead of the Win98 CD? You might have to redirect it to the correct folder, if you can, but that could help.

The recovery cd basically has just 4 sections. Modem, Video, Drivers and something else. I am going to have to explore it to find out.

EDIT:
I just fixed it. It turned out that all the Win98 files are stored inside the computer under the Cabs folder, so I just redirected it to that place. No more pop-ups, no more failed shutdowns, problem solved.:D
