I really need help in tuning my Honda Civic Type R Ek '97 for some 1/4 Mile Drag Racing. I've tried tuning it myself like 20 times, and I suck, would someone please give me some settings for my Ek, I would really appreciate it, please let me know.

Thanks.

Good luck on trying to get tunes out of people from what Ive seen its like the dark arts (very secretive )
however I'll give you some tips
play with the stiffness of the rear springs
Play with ballast and finally grip=speed

Use racing soft tires (better grip off the line), always keep high revs, turn off traction control/ASM, lower the transmission to 140 or so. You might actually benefit from a mid RPM turbo than the high RPM one.

Switch the drivetrain to RWD?

Seriously though... getting tunes out of people isn't hard, you just have to be nice and contribute something in return. Getting a DRAG RACING tune out of some tuners is going to be difficult though because... well... there's a much smaller market for it.

If you want my advice simply go to a track that you use for drag racing and do things to the car one at a time to see if it positively or negatively affects the cars time.

Its FWD, so I'd use racing softs up front and the comfort hards at the rear. Make the rear suspension stiff and go through and read some of the stuff in the tuning menu help section. Apply it in a logical manner.

Tuning a car to go fast and straight doesn't require nearly as much tuning knowledge as hot lapping a track. I'm not saying it requires any less skill, it's just more straight forward? no pun intended...

If your problem is the launch then I recommend setting 1st gear as low as it will go (left) and then adjusting the final drive to the point that when you launch you no longer spin but before you just bog. IF you don't want to sacrafice your other gears you can always launch in second gear and keep your final drive intact to net you a lower top speed, but higher trap speed. But that is provided you are using a manual transmission. Also, I can't give you any specific tunes because I don't know the distance you are racing to. In my experiance, I have found that the transmission settings will get you in the ballpark while the suspension tuning are the final tweaks.

Ok, i did a lot of ff drag race testing in gt4. And i always use to have the rear as hard and as high as posible, With zero toe and zero camber.. For the front have zero toe and camber, but play with the springs and shocks.. You dont want any downforce.. And picking gear ratios is very important.. And balist, to little and you wheelspin to much! To much and it will slow you down, so find a balance! And sometimes try pulling away in 2nd gear..

Where do you drag at? I thought Gt5 has 0 drag tracks/races.

honestly that's all GT needs now, is dragging and this will be my number 1 game (right now it's at 1.5th place lol)

Also I use that car to drag, I believe the high end turbo gave me a better time (i mean I still test my speeds on practice courses); if you have the best tires you really don't have to worry about traction; the car doesn't make enough at 380 hp. Hell my viper at 780 (it's NA only stage 2) hardly breaks traction; so believe me don't worry about it in your honda.

if you were using lesser tires (which IMO is more real) then you will need to worry about traction.

the racing softs in this game is straight up racing slicks; nothing street legal about them IMO :D

If you dont understand tuning basics, i recomend reading the "gt5 transmission guide". Regarding the suspension settings for FF cars, i dont know. Maybe 0 kg ballast, position 50 (front). Use default LSD, the custom LSD wont make much sence in straight line.

But first gear should be long enough so when the tires spin, the rev limiter doesnt bounce. That is front gear should be long, since we dont have drag tyres. Then when you change gears, there shouldnt be anny lag in the speed. The car should accelerate smoothly all the way to the end. Its hard to explain´man....

Ehe, if you dont use TSC then traction is big problem in 380 hp FF car, thats why he got to make the first gear longer, because to much output torque to the first gear = wheelspinn.

Yes, I always tune my tranny, and I know what rpm to hold to lanch and how to throttle my gas so I don't lose traction; and that's with 380 hp FF in the civic ek (my first and favorite car to play with) and I just use the best tires; I don't need TC on when i do this.

Now if I don't use racing soft tires; and use something less; then yeah I could need TC on if I was just to punch the gas. But learning where your car launches best; and how much gas to give it will go a long way with keeping traction and having TC off.

I never use TC, i feel it's cheating :D (yet... I will put turn on the skid option when doing license test that I'm having a hard time on... lol)

I'm just learning to do more with the suspension is all; i use to be good with tuning them I been playing Gt5 for only 3 months now so I have so much more to learn.

but I have a pretty good drag setup; but I only use the a city raceway that has a good straight to drag. What do you guys use? I forget the maps name; it's like the 4th track when you go to city; you will notice it cause it's just a super skinny course with 1 really long straight that you start on.

A good drag tune for any car is very hard to get a hold of because a lot goes into tuning a drag car and it isn't that hard to drag race but if I were you I would go an look at each tuning setup's description which will help you better understand each component of the car such as it's suspension, transmission, camber angle, etc...
