I Need Help Taming The Platypus

Yes I'm referring to the Audi Auto Union Streamline V16 '37, aka "The Platypus". This thing is so unpredictable; understeers like mad one second then drifts like crazy the next! Is there any way to make this thing remotely competitive against newer and more advanced race cars? I don't want to have a $500,000 piece of aluminum collecting dust in my garage.
