I remember my days of Forza...how things have changed!

I remember when I was a HUGE fan of Forza. I would go to the fansites, post on the forums, view the screens, download the videos. But I remember always wanting GT4 (I didn't own a PS2 then...) and always thinking how awesome it looked from all of the video footage and screenshots.

When my 360 broke down and RROD on me THREE times and after encouragement from a couple friends, I bought the PS3 and one of the first games I played was GT5 Prologue. Wow, what a dramatic difference it was compared to Forza. Not only did it look better, but it felt better and the cars looked so realistic during the replays (Forza's replays have ALWAYS sucked, one of my biggest complaints...I have to admit their replays look much better in Forza 3 though) The only thing I was very disappointed was the fact that it had only 6 tracks and some of the textures on the tracks still needed work IMO. But other than that, GT5P is a stunner.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR GT5 and hope that GTPlanet is right about the Q4 release date for this year. I have checked this place everyday and decided to finally post (it's been a while) and share in the excitement for this "game" (it's more than a game to me and I'm sure to you guys too!)

So, here's to hoping that GT5 still stays on track for this year!

i can't wait eighter, i remember GT2 it was my first PSX game, I WAS AMAZED. (remember i had just came from Ghana and i didn't see any game that looked remotely close to a PSX game, so when my uncle brought the PSX and GT2 i thought games couldn't look any better. i sucked @ it though but then I started using other cars to help me turn :). I SUCKED @ licensee tests too. then when ps2 came around i casually played GT, but now that i think of it i only completed 15%. But GT5 i KNOW will different. 70%+ completion, HERE I come

Interesting, i think its the first time i read something like this. lol
But yeah, welcome to the huge club of people waiting for the full game, just to inform you: It could be painful. 8/

I'm so excited for it also!

But your post sounded like this guy saying...

"I remember when I was a weee little boy. Oh how I used to play Forza. Then I realized the love that I had always had inside of me for me sweetheart, Gran Turismo. I as got to know har, I loved har even more!":lol::lol::lol:

No offense at all. It just reminded me of that somehow. Maybe because you make it sound that long ago, when it was really like 2 or 3 years ago.:lol:

I have always wondered why other games can't get the replays down like GT...

I mean flashy up close shots to show speed and detail are cool... for awhile.

Lot's of flashy cuts to different angles give it a cool music video feel... for a while...

But they do very little for actually seeing the replay. GT replays have it nailed... nice long pans, good distance to see the whole pack and how the track is being utilized... great camera angles that seem to almost always catch the action...

I wish more games would go the GT way with replays or at least give you enough control to reasonably deuplicate them.

I seem to remember you posting on the forza forums.

Fullly agree with what you say because this is how me and my friends felt when we played GT5P after taking a break from FM2.

Good post..

I certainly agree with the replays, I just don't ever watch FM2 replays, they just hurt my eyes!..

Well, my PS3 Slim + GT5 + Fanatec Turbo S Clubsport request is in with Santa, so here's hoping for a bumper christmas!

I've never played Forza, but Forza 3 looks the goods and I'll be getting both games.

Should get at least a month and half out of Forza before GT5 hits and I can fufil my Porsche driving fantasy. Also I'd imagine there will be a few different tracks that are exclusive to Forza. Anyone here who also follows Forza know what the 5 cars you get unlocked straight away are if you buy the limited edition?

@ Hugo24

You get the 5 following cars that aren't in the non LCE game..

2009 Aston Martin DBS
2009 Corvette ZR1
2007 Ferrari 430 Scuderia
2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997)

And 5 'custom liveried' cars (The base cars are in the non-LCE game)
2005 Accura NSX
2005 Aston Martin DB9
2010 Audi R8 5.2
2008 Dodge Charger Stock Car
2003 Nissan Fairlady Z (Z33)

Well excuse me "JDigital" but no need to start a new thread when there is a ongoing one with the same subject already.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=118039&page=2

This thread is about somebody who used to play Forza discovering GT. That thread is about comparing the two games. This one's more of a personal thing, the other isn't.

There's no reason to go around calling out which threads are copies of other threads. We have moderators who do that. And since none of them have showed up to lock this one yet, I'd say it's fine.

Welcome to the club! Now, you'll have to wait every 5 years in between games instead of 2. lol
lol :D Yeah, I guess that's the only real drawback but in a way it is worth the way. I do wish they would release a little bit faster. As long as it releases this year, I'll be happy. :)

Man Forza 1 looks better than Forza 2...

I remember when I first watched the trailer Forza 2, Dan Greenawalt and the team exclaimed "Our game looks BETTER than these CGI trailers" and I believed him. Then, when the real thing was revealed I was very, very disappointed...in fact, I have never felt that disappointed about a game but I still bought it because I love cars. The graphics looked just "okay" to me with nothing spectacular at all. It was just blah.

I have to admit some of the tracks of Forza are awesome...do you remember Rio de Janeiro from Forza 1? I could not believe they excluded that in Forza 2 because that was my all time favorite track! While I'm not getting Forza 3, I hope they at least bring that track back to the series.

Yeah, I still can't get over how bad they are...I was expecting an incredible "masterpiece" from Turn 10 with Gran Turismo-style replays. There was no excuse for such crappy camera angles...Forza 1 was awesome and I was expecting SO much from Forza 2 only to walk away very disappointed to say the least.

By the way, not that I have to answer to anyone anyway, but this was kind of my "re-introduction" post if you will because I consider myself new here (ahem, just look at my post count.) I just thought I would give my opinion on how I see the GT series and what I based my opinion on.
