Allright I just made a huge mistake that I am going to regret.

I tryed buying one of the Audi Touring cars and I thought as long as you didnt get in the car it wouldnt start autosaving but I was wrong and it did. Well I turned the console off during the autosave because I didnt want to own the car just yet I just wanted to try it in arcade mode.

Well when I restarted the console and the game started loading it now says my data is corrupted.

Am I totally screwed now or is there any way around this??? Im pretty sure there no way to fix this.

It really sucks to because I had the game 75% completed and had about 150 cars. Theres go a few months work down the drain:indiff:

Sorry to have to say this, but yeah, I'm afraid your game is toast. I know it sucks to lose all that effort.

That's why every game tells you to not turn the power off or remove the memory card while the game is saving.

i always use a second card and go to the ps2 browser and copy the gt4 game file every so often. so if i have a bad run or stuff up like you did, i dont have to start ALL over again.

i did that one time on accident after i completed a race that won me a formular one car.......i quit playing the game for a long time after that.

Thats a good idea. But yeah, none of us want to tell you this, but your totally screwed. I had this happen to me when i was at 60% and about 200 cars. (i like to shop:D). Its to bad really, i wonder why when you turn off auto save it still doesn't turn it off when buying a car?

But good luck on your rebuilding process!:sly:

Let us know how it goes.

Yea you NEVER want to mess with the console while it's in the process of saving.

If it's any consolation, I've lost at least 4 games over the years (GT1, GT2, and GT3...not GT4....yet) by screwing up a save. In my case, I made the mistake of having TWO memory cards in the PS2 at once, then saving my game to the wrong card--and erasing a different GT game :banghead:

Speaking of which, I'm overdue to make a browser backup of my GT4 save.

TECHNICAL NOTE: Do NOT try to just save your open game to a different card from inside GT4. This will screw up your saves. Pop the game disc out and use the Ps2 browser to copy it.

when i did it i was like 2 in the morning and i had just finished a freaking long race in aspec and was going to sleep right after so i was going to turn it off right after it auto saved, well my finger jumped on me.......so yeah.

Ooooh that had to suck.:ouch: :indiff:

What race was it?

Resetting a device while it's saving.
I once had this when I was like 8 and made a beautiful tree painting in MS Paint, took me days perhaps a week to make it. Then I decided to experiment with some colors and when I accidentally saved it, turned off the comp while it was doing this.. painting was deleted on reboot.

Sad times:guilty: :dopey:

Well thats not good, it happend to me to me on GT2.

Look on the bright side, you can always join the corrupt data club now.

Was that in the early '90s on Windows 3.x? You'd have to have pretty quick reflexes to turn off the computer while Paint is saving on any half-modern computer. :boggled:

Sorry bro....the same exact freakin thing happened to me...I was like 22% in though.

Oh well...as infuriated as I was for doing that...when I went back through a second time, I knew what to buy and what not to buy right away...so I ended up saving a lot of money and time.

What made me really mad....is that I had turned off the console before while saving GT3 or a different game, and it didn't corrupt the data. So I was shocked that it happened this time around.

this is when its a good idea to always duplicate your file to another memory card and always update it.

erm? whyd you reset it anyways? you could have easyly remade the money later on ... but, im at 80 some odd percent and just have bspec run the 24 hours of nordschleife when i need credits so, heh.

just dont make a video of it like hilton did and put it on the web for everyone to see... ;)

time for a restart :)

Ha-ha!

Hey, Ving! How ya doing, dude? Nice seeing you again. 👍

Oh, not only is your game save toast, but so might your card.

Yer screwed...I did the same thing at 90% completion....I bet you won't make the same mistake again.

Yeh, this might happen to your card too. I think I was like 95 or 96% through this game:ouch: :grumpy:
Not only did I have this game done but I had many other games finished or near completion.
Here's a list:
Driv3r
Ratchet and Clank 3
Burnout 3
Spongebob: Lights, Camera, Pants
Simpsons Hit and Run
LOTR: Return of the King
Star Wars Episode III
Socom 3
NFS Carbon
I have about 2 or 3 other games that I was only just a bit through though.

not bad thanks... been flat out busy with work, home, and hobbies. it nice to just pop in every now and then though :)

thats what i like of the ps3 converter. you copy the data and still have it on the mem card :) but stil i feel sorry for you al that hard work

That sucks losing all that progress. I have never accidently erased my GT4 or GT3 files, but I have been affected by the dreaded garage glitch of GT2. I had saved the game after a race (my garage was full) and when I went to my garage to change cars I saw it was empty. I about had a heart attack when I saw my empty garage. At the time I didn't know what was going on and thought my save was corrupt. I started a new game only to find the bug again. This time I didn't save until I checked my garage. Then I went on the Internet to see what was going on. That I when I learned about the bug.

Anyway, about the buying a car and autosaving thing. The game won't save unless you get in your new car. I don't have it on full autosave so I don't know if that is why it saved on you. I get new cars all the time to test them in Arcade Mode.

Yeah it really does suck that I have to start all over again.

But I will probably try all over agin this weekend because I want to beat it so bad and get all the cars.

Like A Fatal Goodbye said now I know what to do better a second time around.

It's horrible when that happens it happened to me once when playing Spiderman 2 on my Gamecube but I'd only being playing it a short while so it didn't really make any difference but here's a couple of bits of advice I can give;

1. Try every trick in the book to get the memory card working again any tip you've ever heard, but if all is lost.

2. Make your next go on the game as good as you can and if possible better. Try to beat all your lap times, get more credits, better cars etc it will make you feel so much better.

Although I could be talking out of my backside, I'm only on about 29% and if my memory card corrupted I'd probably start crying best of luck though.

I was at 92% in the middle of running the F1 races. In order not to leave my system running for 3-4 days I was shutting off after exiting after a race and going to the home board. I guess I shut off too soon once and was toasted. I didn't mind starting over (except having to go through the licenses again) but I had 950 cars including my color collections that took a lot of b-specing to do.

I bought a second memory card the next day.

Just did the same thing!:ouch:

Not that far into GT mode, but on Silver or Gold with all the licenses. :grumpy:

Seems like all my arcade ghost replays are still there, however. Is that normal?
