Yes its true call your local Gamestop they have GT5 Prologue US version for reserve!!!!!! With a release date of March 18th and a price of $39.99!!!!!! No Bull S@#*!!!!! I just came from there and reserved mine!!!Call and check for yourselves!!

So let's see a copy of the "gauranteed" release date. Do you think that Gamestop would tell you a little lie?

same thing as i reserved GTA4 that they say it would come out on one date but in reality its coming out in the other day. and i dont need to reserve a copy, there will be always copy of the game.
you trust gamestop too easily

I reckon the date will get pushed so far back, they will cancel european and us release and just bring out GT5 before christmas.

It's not 100% garanteed, because you have no control over what happens in the very final weeks before the stated release date. It can get pushed back if it needs to be.

The difference between GTA4 and GT5P is that GT5P is already finished and for sale in parts of the world, also.... Gamestop is the only source that I frequently checked that had ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION on GT5P at all in the past, and now they have a release date and price, what would make the game get pushed back....the thing is already finished(changing the language on the menu screens should not account for any delays)! Plus they have placed two new GT5P videos in the US Playstation store this month. Yeah...I think I'm going to trust Gamestop on this one! But don't take my word for it.....CALL EM'!!

URB, has Sony update the page I posted? No? So, that means there has been no official press release. See, they know it is coming, they know it will be Spring of 2008. They want us to pre-order it....to make a commitment to buy it from THEM.

"Pre-order to receive release date change notifications."

"Trust Gamestop"? On who's authority have they come up with this date? They pulled it out of their (_|_) and you want us to "trust" them? They have no source to prove the date is as what they claim it to be. And you want us to "trust" them?

I don't have a problem "securing" my copy at my local GS; I know I will have it the day of release as soon as the UPS truck gets there in the morning. The other stores in the area (even the one I can get a 10% discount) won't have it out until whatever day it will say in the ad, even if the game is in the store!!!

I see no reason to get anyone worked up to pre-order it now. Trust "me" we (the greater GT community as a whole) will be chattering so loudly you won't be able to hear yourself think....when the "actual" date is announced through SONY. Is EB/GS "SONY" NO

Until I see a copy of GT5:P (and later on GT5) on the shelves I won't trust any website or press release.

Good things come to those who wait.

hahahaha, any store offering reserves IS NOT AN OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE!

Unless its posted on PD or Sony's website ITS NOT REAL!

Sony DID say the first quarter of 08' did'nt THEY, I could see if they said GT5 was coming out in March....I'd expect major delays also. But we are talking about a game that is already FINISHED!! It's not like they said they are going to ad 20 new cars to the US version, all they had to do is change the language on the menu screens. PD has been hinting around to a close US release with their holiday commercials, collection of new videos in the PSS etc. etc. They even placed GTHD back in the PSS for download(for promational purposes I'm sure) As a matter of fact I did'nt even ask the clerk about GT5P.... I asked him if there has been any new info. on GT5. He said no but we have a release date for GT5P, then he went on about the price etc. all you doubters....why don't you call Gamestop and ask them for their source of info......me I don't care I have already started counting the days!!

One thing that might cause a delay would be the need to set up a good server infrastructure for the online system. Since I don't know how long it takes to establish such a monster, March might be a good time frame. Or it might not. Another thing would be content Kaz and the lads want to have ready to go on Blu-ray rather than for download, like race cars and that special restored vintage Corvette. But whatever the reason, I can see the possibility of delays for any length of time. But like you, now the middle of March is on my radar screen and won't go away till I hear different. ;)

Ok im seeing a few, 'its already finished so' ...etc or similar, if it was that simple, we'd have an OFFICIAL release, wouldnt we? They wont just be holding it back for no
particular reason, they would have told us the date at least be it sooner or later.

They are probably doing something such as servers etc. whatever, but whatever it is PD will give an official date when they know it will be done and has had enough produced to meet demand. There's no good reason to withold that date as when they tell us the date, people will be getting ready for it.

So aslong as there's no official date, no store will be accurate on it, theyre guessing just like us. Ill be impressed if they got it right though.

Your original thread title was very misleading, please be able to cite your source when you make a claim such as this.

Incorrect. While the game is "finished", it is only in the sense for Japan. ANY vehicle that is available in the US & Japan (certain EVO's, WRX's etc.) will have to be left hand drive so there IS more to be done on the game than just a menu translation as well as the inclusion of the online feature which is ONLY available as a download add-on for Japan. The same would also apply to them possibly adding more stuff like vehicle(s) or track(s) though I feel this would be by download if at all.

Hahahahahahaha.....I THINK I RESERVED GT5P!! That's cute! Sorry dude I KNOW I reserved GT5P and we will see who was right in a month and a half, just remember this thread!!! Secondly PD never changed the driver side of the cars in US versions before! If you look at GT3 and GT4 closely the shadow of the driver is on the right hand side in some foreign cars, Just because they have interior views now does'nt mean they are going to change that. When did PD announce that??? And for the record this thread was never misleading. I stated what I know: Gamestop has GT5P for reserve, with a price of $39.99, and a release date of March 18th. I think it just tears some people up not to have had this information and posted it first!! Don't worry......the next information I get my hands on about GT5P I'll keep it to myself so some of the people on this site don't feel left out of the loop!!hahahahahahahaahhaha

I agree!

I have two copies reserved from PLAY.com, with a DELIVERY date of 18th March!
One is coming to myself and one is going to my best bud Andy (Drew22)

If the release date isn't adhered to, who cares? We'll get it ASAP once it hits the warehouses, and be charged then!

What is the point in being SO anal, that you have to argue whether a release date is "firm", "confirmed", or not officially sanctioned by Sony?

We will ALL get it WHEN it comes! So why be an arse about it, if you haven't seen the relevant info? Who gives a sh;t, as long as it arrives as soon as it can?

Get real guys! The only points you should be scoring are the one's on the track! And when it REALLY come down to it, the real scores to be settled will ONLY be available when GT5 is released with private race forums etc, if it ever does?

So, CHILL THE **** OUT, and stop beating each other up over something we can't control or influence! It'll happen when it happens!

The Voice of reason!

No, they won't. What gives you this crazy idea?

If the car Polyphony modeled had a left-sided driver, then it'll be that way for every copy. Why do you think Polyphony always has a (J) on the end of certain models in the game? Perhaps for the meaning of "Japanese model"?

Sony DID say the first quarter of 08' did'nt THEY,
Did they, because as I understand it Sony's fiscal Q1 starts in April. So for Sony first quarter of 08 may mean April. I'm not doubting you, just saying that you shouldn't get your hopes up. When Sony said the PS3 would become profitable in 08 they made a point to explain that fiscal year '08 began in April.

As for preordering from Gamestop....never. I will preorder from anyone else, but Gamestop lost my business when I had a preorder with Funcoland for a game that came out after Gamestop bought them. With my copy of the preorder and my receipt in hand they denied it because during the switchover they lost all the paperwork.

Locally an EB Games opened and I attempted to use them until they just went pure Gamestop. Used games are cheaper elsewhere and the manager is a bit of a jerk. All I ever bought was Warhawk and that was after hitting every other store in town. I have posted that story a couple of times. The day they switched the signs was the day I quit being able to pretend EB was not Gamestop.

Again a comment that is both irrelevant to the subject of the thread, and argumentative!
Why try to be-little someone instead of providing relevant info?

I know that he brought the point up, BUT, there is no need to cause any ill-feeling because he did so!

A simple reply stating that he was wrong would have sufficed.

I'm not arguing. I'm simply asking what gives him such an idea. A simple reply stating he was wrong without anything more would not have sufficed.

GT4 was delayed for non Japan versions. ;)

GT4P took a year or so to reach the EU, I don't think it ever even came out in the US.... PD and release dates just don't seem to gel!

Oh well ive got my GT5P copy so im not to bothered...

Robin

I know my source is a gamestop employee but he made me think...

He told me I might want to reserve because he thinks there's going to be a limited supply of GT5p since it's really only a blown up demo. Where I'm gonna reserve is still in the air though.

I'm not even going to reply with an immature ignorant post as others have but I will say this. We'll see when the US version comes out, if it was as simple as "just changing menus to English" it would have come out already; though I am not saying it is 100% definitively going to be so. Hopefully once I find the link referencing this people won't be so quick to talk bs, although it was from quite a few months ago. Plus it makes sense, if the car is available for purchase in the US then it should be left side drive as it is here, if not then it will be a JSpec vehicle and be right hand drive.

You think your the first person here to post the release date quoted by a staff member at <insert random game supplier here>?

PSU posted this over a week ago - (March 19th release)
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=101419

Of course PSU are also responsible for this little turd...
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=100562

Go back a bit further...
IGN lists GT5 Prologue for February 19th release (sourced from Amazon)
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=101307

etc, etc, etc.

We're all hoping it's not delayed even further, but until there is an official press release from Sony everything should be taken with a grain of salt. Many of these forum members remember the seemingly endless delays with the impending release of GT2, GT3, and GT4.
