I want to be a driver, not a manager!F1 2018

Got F1 2017 recently and I'm very frustrated with it. I'm retiring from many sessions because of mechanical failures and I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Can't I just be the driver and not worry about skill trees and component management?

Does F1 2018 improve on that?

Like I said in a previous thread if you do all the durability upgrades first, then you probably won’t have mechanical failures that often.

I'm confused. Why don't you just swap out the damaged/old parts of your engine/gearbox/turbo? It takes less than 5 seconds to do it.

I think it will be the same in 2018. It would be nice if they just let the computer switch the components around automatically.
And the gathering of resource points in the FPs is really tedious, they should have done something about that. It makes the FPs not fun.

Agree with the free practice comment.

A massive turn off for career mode having to do all those same tests over and over and over again.

I’m driving for McLaren and I actually understand that there will be retirements.

But what bothers me is that there’s almost no recognition for a great performance you did do up until the point the mechanical failure happened.

Like I qualified on the front row of Spielberg by putting in an amazing lap, was holding on to 5th place during the race when I retired. But still got a Losing Rivalry message and interest in me from other teams plummeted. Wtf

And because of lost potential development points, I’m going to be even further behind.

Ahh yes, that is an issue.

It is going to be sorted in 2018 I think with the new contract system.
