hi guys,

i'm pretty sure to start playing Ukulele, and therefore i wanted to ask, if someone has some hints/idead/info about playing an Ukulele.

i'm not really good at playing/making music, but i really want to start it.

any suggestions appreciated!

thanks viper

don't know, i just want to play Ukulele, because it's not so common here in my region......i know it's different/harder to learn than guitar, but i really want to start it. any brand-suggestions? i read about Samick to be good??

This guy is my favorite Ukulele player. I'm not too familiar with Uke models, I would recommend going to an online music store and see what you like. If you buy one, I would recommend buying a Ukulele music book to get things started.

i already heard some songs from Jake, he's such a good player, awesome........

i'll keep you guys posted, if i'll buy one, and after the purchase about my progress!

so far i have not bought an Ukulele yet, but on Monday i'll come to Vienna again, where a big music-store is, and i think that'll be the day, where i buy my Ukulele. i'll keep you posted!

So, finally i got my Ukulele yesterday, a Samick UK-50...... i had to change the Strings, because i'm a lefthander, and so the Strings where in wrong order for me. now i only have to tune it and start learning the chords.

Only when you said "Vienna", did I realize that you were from Austria, not Australia. Sorry about that. :ouch:

How many strings do ukulele have? And good luck on learning the chords!

lol about the Austria/Australia thing......, don't worry about that :sly:

here are some pics:

i can play the melodie of: TNT (AC/DC), 7 Nation Army (White Stripes), Smoke on the Water after some training and help from my g/f who plays guitar and piano.

some of the Chords are hard to play like D# and A#, but i think with some training they also won't be a problem.....and an Ukulele can have 4,5,6,8 strings. mine has 4 strings......

thanks man, i'm not 100% pleased with them, i need to practise more on rythm and to grad the strings cleaner. but for about 2months of learning i'm content.

Nice 👍 It sounds like you're using some fairly simple recording equipment, much like I do myself. Have you ever thought about trying to do some double-tracking? I record myself playing the guitar using a cheap tape recorder, and then I play the tape back in my stereo and perform a second guitar and vocal track 'live' and record that using the same cheap tape recorder. It's a simple way of creating some more complex tunes, and you'll be surprised how quickly you can start inventing your own songs using this technique...

thanks for your nice words...........i use my Nokia 6233 to record my music. then i transfer it on my pc and convert it to mp3. maybe i'll try your method in future!
