I was banned in another forum. Help!

I'm sure I didn't violate any rule and the only feedback I was given was:

"The administrator or moderator that banned you left the following message:

Group block"

What does that mean?

Perhaps it would be better to send a message to a moderator of that forum for an explanation instead of asking for help on a different forum.

That would imply you weren't the only one. Did you recently get into a flame war or any big argument or unpopular discussion? It's not unheard of for admins to ban entire groups of people at one time if they're causing trouble.

This is why I tend to stay on smaller forums. I think GTP here is the largest forum I visit (except for GAF, I suppose, and I tend to keep a low profile there). All the other forums are ones that I've been members of for years and everyone knows me.

Not at all, that's why I'm puzzled. I've been banned before and new it was coming but this time was illogical. Plus I only posted like 5 times. No warning no nothing!

Also remember not all mods are alike.

I'm actually a Moderator on a local car forum. I don't ban people unless they try to bring harm to the site. Only two in 5yrs.

However we had a batch of mods that used their powers to channel some underlying problems stemming from HS. When you know people it's easy to peg they was picked in and power tripping.

We gave some weaker less popular people mod spots to help develope some popularity for them. Usually they get some friends and we replace with another person we feel could benefit.


Anyway. Some mods get power trips. Some are actually really there to protect the sites interest and are super cool.

We have a couple that actually start arguments. However on a car forum where grudge racing is involved. You get drama. Drama gentlemen keeps the traffic numbers high. Sad eh?

So yea I'd say you was either mistaken Identity or ran across Mad Mod. Which a Mad Mod is almost impossible to deal with. Hit up Admins and not hired admins. The site owner!

You can catch them through emails and certain subsections if you look hard enough.

If you can't get in at all. Use a private browser and make new account. Apologize for this method and then state your case.

No, because GTPlanet was obviously made before the world, so you have to alliterate the world with GTPlanet, not the other way around.

This should be my worst ban ever, even ahead than the last time I was banned for the reason: "crackpot"!

Hmm.., now that I think about it I tried several times to post a link or an image but I couldn't. The reason being that this was only available to old "proven" users.

If he is a good admin and sees how you have been wrongly banned, I don't think he will double whammy you for explaining your situation. And if he does ban you again, then it doesn't change anything anyway. You really have nothing to lose.

I understand you're upset, but don't let your frustration lead to you getting banned from here too. Use the 🤬 smiley, type the word properly and let the filter do its job, or better yet, calm down before you feel the need to post with sweary words in them.

You can self-censor if it's done fully. Typing "****" is acceptable, but if you typed the word in full, the forum will do that for you anyway. Typing "****"* is unacceptable because you've deliberately partially self-censored a word, leaving little doubt as to what you meant it to read, and thus bypassed the filter we have in place to eliminate this sort of thing. The same goes for replacing characters such as "$h!t"* in order to make something that shouldn't be here appear.

Jordan wishes this this site to be a place of intelligent and friendly discussion, and swearing contributes nothing to that. You have the option to use a 🤬 smiley, which conveys the same meaning, without the necessity to use the real words or make the effort to bypass the filter.

*Don't bother reporting this post, I know what I did here, and it's being used as an example of what not to do!
