And the street got really slow, and some fellow to the right of me with Mexican plates and one of those Eagle Premiers (remember those?! I think they were the Dodge Monaco too - I love them) merged in, forcing me to wonder what the hell was going on because normally people in Eagle Premiers don't get out of the empty lane for the slow lane.

Turned out some idiot in a Cavalier broadsided one of those huge '70's Chevy sedans.

Shame about the Chevy sedan, but I couldn't help but be really, really happy about the Cavalier. Its whole front-end was smashed in and everything. It even still had temporary plates. That must suck. Oh no.

Anyway, why must Chevy insist on producing these pathetic pieces of ****? Does anybody except mayorbill11 believe these things are worth anybody's time?

I hate them and all their disciples (that Pontiac). I believe they're the worst car on the road, including everything Daewoo. Who's with me?

By the way, do you idiots know that Pontiac had/has a trim of the Grand Prix called the GTP? Shouldn't everybody with over 5000 posts be treated to one on the house?

I saw a Eagle, it looked like a 4x4, I dont know what it was it might've been what your talking about, I saw it today! Scary looking thing.

The whole ass end of the brand new Cavaliers is utter ****. I don't even want to know what the designers were thinking/smoking when they came up with it.

The bodt style of Cavalier before the kind Misnblu has is the worst car design - ever.

I actually considered a new GTP when I got the Lexus. I didn't want an ugly supercharged FWD car, though, so I decided against it. That and I hate Pontiac.:odd: Kidding.

You might be talking about the AMC Eagle. In that case, leave my thread and go visit PunkRock; he'll set you straight.

It's not even that - they insist on using the cheapest materials, which would be okay if the cars were cheap, but they're actually trying to compete with the Corolla, Focus, Neon and Civic. It's impossibly stupid.

I am no fan of J body cars either. It seems to me that GM will be relying heavily on the new Saturn Ion to try to be competitve in this segment. At least the desing of that car is more up to date.

The style is, but the design is still several years off (that's my opinion, though - a lot of people see it differently).

I thought that the Ion was based on GM's delta platform, which has seen use use in on the new Saabs. And I heard those new 9-5s were good handlers. But also that is only what I have heard I have no first hand account of course, just somthing to ruminate on. That whole Saturn Redline thing has my attention too, I've heard numbers as high as 240hp for the Redline Ion. This is an interesting devolpment to say the least. I can not belive how many cool little compacts that are out there these days, its like a new golden era of cheap speed!:)

The interior on the Ion is a joke - made from the cheapest stuff they could find anywhere in the Amazon. Rock hard seats and the like. It's just poorly engineered.

Anywhere in the Amazon:lol: Wow it would be funny if someone found a bannana under their seat, or mabye a monkey in the trunk:D Seriously though I was reffering to the underlying chassis and suspension of the Delta platform. I don't know any specifics though, can someone enlighten me?

I'm not sure either, but I'd bet it's wholly seperate from the 9-5.

Maybe somebody will come in and know for sure. Otherwise I'm with you.

Just got back from C&D's site and heres what I found out. The delta platform is NOT shared with any saab, that was the Sigma platform I was thinking of. (Whats with all these dorky greek names anyway?). Their impression of the Ion was that the basic chassis structure and some of the suspension was pretty good but the rest of the car was crap. That sounds about like what I had heard awhile ago so there we have it. Now back to being lazy:)

Heh, a gomer I used to work with - dorky and whitebread as they come, but really a nice guy despite that - bought a 1995 Cadavalier at the same time we bought the first Neon. I just talked to him for the first time in a year, and he was all excited because he had just traded it in for a....

[drumroll] Ready? Wait for it.... [/drumroll]

...a Saturn Ion! [rimshot]

That's good Doug. Today me and my dad were in his Probe, and this twit in a bottom of the line Talon with ricer parts came up fast behind us...we came to a red light and he got into the lane next to us. The light turned green and my dad raced off(being careful with the warn out clutch), and we beat him. Turns out he was headed to the same motorcycle shop we went to. So we pull in the lot, and get out. He gets out, and he's like "Hey is that thing turbocharged?"(keep in mind, this is a 2nd gen Probe GT, N/A V6, and my dad's has no aftermarket mods at all). My dad's like "Nope, just a V6." The guy says "Well I didn't know you were going to race so I didn't try hard." Like he really thought we would believe him and his base model Talon. Though a 51 year old and his son are not normal street racing people. ;)

Doug, I just want you to know, I'm gonna be the one that bans you. For infinity + infinity + one.

Although, I might have to fend off Giles and Josh with a big wooden stick to do it. I know Giles has been itchin to do it. He's got a red colored mouse on his desk, that with one click, you're banned. It's much like the red phone on the presidents desk I hear. Or the Bat phone. Yep.

Aww let Doug go, it takes one to call other people one. Plus he's right, cause a service manager that my dad works with has one and it's pretty fast. But it's still a GM product...

So everyone agrees that a J-Body is total crap? This could be a GTP first.

It's just the code GM gave to their cars that shared a platform. An F-Body was a Camaro/Firebird, an A-Body refered to a Chevelle, Nova, Cutlass, etc... I don't know them all, in fact i don't know how many there are

That Pontiac Sunfire??? The Sunfire is a much better car than the Cavalier, IMO. I own a Sunfire and my parents own a Cavalier, so I know how both of them drive, and I think the Sunfire is a much more comfortable car, and it drives better too.

If Doug weren't unconscious from dehydration and heat exhaustion, he'd be all over this like Mazkid on a magazine advertisement.

SaleenASL's right. ;)

The Pontiac Sunfire are made with the same **** (and I stress the term '****') at the same plant in the same place. It's very possible that one is better than another, but only because it's a quirk in the manufacturing process; some cars come out better, some come out worse.

The fact that you own two J-body vehicles scares the pants off me. Why would somebody choose to settle for mediocrity? I don't understand.

I ask myself the same question everytime I see a Mitsubishi Galant.

Hahaha! A quick shot but I like it!

It is sad when people buy one mediocre car and think it's good cause they haven't tried anything else, so they buy the same, or rebadged, car. Sometimes more than once.

Every time I see a new Cavilier, I think "that poor soul. He's confused. He's been cohersed into buying this disposable car, and he doesn't even realise it, yet."

👍

Very few return Cavalier buyers.
