First of all, I'd like to say hello to everyone. I'm new here but I love my Gran Turismo, always have, and I came across this site the other day.

Well, having had a week off school and then going to Barcalona with my family for a 5 day break, the Easter holidays were being pretty kind to me, but I'd almost forgotten about the final event - The Gadget Show Live, at the NEC in Birmingham.

When I got there there was a visionracer (something I'd never heard of previously) stand. Wow! They had a competition running there for doing 2 laps around the High-Speed Ring in a Ferrari F2007 against the best opposition bar other F1 Cars. The fastest time of the day won a DFGT and the fastest time of the whole 3-Day event won a G25.

I did the quickest time of the day that I went, on Saturday! I wasn't quickest overall, but I'm really happy that a) I was the fourth fastest person out of the 1500 who tried it there and b) I won a DFGT!

If you scroll down to Saturday's times then there I am! Hoo-rah! However I have seen some people on here saying that the pedals were a bit rubbish, but seeing as I've got the wheel for free (which will come between Monday and Wednesday) I might just invest in some G25 pedals if they do break.

Can people please tell me what the wheel is like to use (I used the G25 for the comp.) and whether the Force Feedback is as good/any good compared with the G25.

Thanks, Matt

Congratulations Matthew,

I never own DF GT wheel, but I had the older DFP wheel, used same pedals. They are not THAT bad, they are.. but yeah. I do not know if you can hook up G25 pedals with DF GT wheel..

I hear that DF GT wheel is almost similar force feedback to G25, it feels similar..

I have G25, and seems its weaker with GT5P then with my DFP wheel. I think because G25s are not 100% compatible yet. I play FFB settings at 10 with G25, and DFP feels like it will rip my arms off.. I am not only person to experience G25 is .. pretty weak with GT5, just a quick heads up.

But stick with what you got for free. You will get use to the paddles, they are very light, and they do brake fast, but you will have fun with that wheel. And congrats again.

Thanks.
I suppose I've seen three threads about the pedals breaking on the forums, but for every poor set there must be thousands of fine ones.
I really can't wait until it comes now, and I can't wait for GT5 either... :(

I have my G25 force feedback in GT5P set to 4 (out of 10) don't know why people want to wrestle with the wheel so much (rip their arms off). Only time I want the wheel to react hard is if I crashed into something or hit a curb hard (like real life)

@ thugbear: That's good to know because some of the people on forums have had me worried and I havn't even got the thing yet!

@ viper: No I won't want it constantly breaking my arms, but I want to feel even going over rumble strips and stuff. I'll probably try mine on about 7 at first.

@ seizure: Thanks man :)

but I want to feel even going over rumble strips and stuff.

Of course and pretty much any setting will give you that, it is personal choice but for others I just don't understand how G25 at setting 10 is 'weak'. :)

Oh I see what you mean now.
Yeah when I used the G25 for the comp it certainly kicked a bit. If you let go of it on the straight then it would rock from side to side, so I think it was quite high.

It is weak, I remeber some member suggested only one motor worked with G25?

When I hook it up to the PC, G25 feels correct, with GT5P, it feels weak and really dull. With DFP and GT5P problem disappears.

Personal opinion I guess, I don't feel the need to strong arm it. I don't remember noticing much difference in strength going from the DFP to the G25 in GT5P.

I think it might be because the G25 isn't specifically a PS3 wheel, whereas DFGT & DFP are both built for consoles (PS2 & 3 respectively).

Maybe that's why the DFGT feels more powerful, maybe the G25 can't be fully hones in on console.

Its fine for street driving, But for Race cars GT-Tuned cars I need something tougher then G25. Good Example F1, still too smooth.

G25 is generally accepted as better, but value for money wise they are quite even, the G25, after all, is £100 more in most places.

I've got the DFGT, it's a good wheel. You'll be happy with it.

Well done :)

DFGT is better in terms of FFB and Buttons on the wheel is what I hear for GT5P game..
Even old DFP wheel had way more mods over G25..
All it is, that G25 has better pedals and separate shifter.. but that shifter is JUNK and TOYISH.. even after resistance Mod I did, it still.. feels toyish.

So For you, Keep the DFGT, soon there will be many mods..

For PC games, you can buy separate set of Peddals with clutch, as wel you can buy Separate shifter.. with DFGT, shifter and better peddals on PC you will be in heaven.

Lol, I'm more of a console gamer really.
I suppose my PC is wasted on me! I've got 2gb of graphics memory but I only play Crysis and stuff instead of PC racers.
Any you think I should buy?
Thanks again, by the way ;)
