I can't raise a tooth brush to my mouth to brush my teeth. I can't drink out of a glass, I have to use a straw. I couldn't take off my own shirt. I'm even getting a good burn just typing this message...

Now what do I do? Should I be concerned if I can't open my arms all the way? Should I be worried if when I relaxe them, they stay bent at a 45deg angle?

I just find humor in my pain, so I thought I'd share...

ICYHOT "ALL" over yourself? I think I'll stick with the minor muscle cramps and the temporary state of being handicap then to resort to rubbing ICYHOT "ALL" over myself. :)

LoL hey its a thought to consider if it hurts that bad.

So is rubbing alchohol on open sores.... :D

So that ICYHOT stuff really works, eh? I remember using Tiger Balm back in the day.....

Yeah, ICYHOT works pretty good, but be careful with it. There's nothing like putting it on, not washing your hands, and going to the bathroom 2 minutes later.:irked:

 Kinda like cutting up Jalapeño’s or Habanera’s and accidentally rubbing your eyes afterwards.....

It'll pass. Try a cold bath - it stimulates blood flow to the affected muscles which will assist recovery. I use it after running.

do you mean warm/hot bath?

No - I mean cool. That's why you're seeing sports teams doing pool or beach sessions the day after a game.

The concept is that the cool water stimulates blood flow into the sore muscles, therefore improving recovery. You know those cold water plunge pools you're seeing at gyms now - that's what they're for.

How much did you lift/do?

Lets see..., started out with a stretch then:
Bench: 3x10reps 185lbs, 2x4reps 225lbs.
Flat Bench Dumbell Flys: 3x10/10reps (outside/inside) 40lbs
Curls/Dumbell/Incline: 3x10reps 25lbs/20lbs/15lbs
Preacher Curls: 3x10reps 65lbs
Preacher Negitive Curls: 2x6reps 110lbs
Cable Tricep Extensions: 3x10reps 25lbs
Flatbench Dumbell Tricep Extensions: 3x10reps 55lbs
Incline Bench: 3x4reps 135lbs

I think that was about it...and I must say that today, it appears that if I try to touch my face, the muscles will rip from my bone. :) Life is good...

Well, it's now day three after the workout, and I can touch my nose now, I can scratch my head, and can even take off my own shirt. I'm on the HWY to healing. :D

By the way, Tiger Balm is the Bomb!

LoL Oh yeah i forgot about tiger balm. Thats some good S... well you know the word. Glad to hear you can do the things that most of us take for granted everyday. :P

Careful. Take it easier next time you work out.
It's normal to get sore if you haven't worked out in a long time, but you don;t want to get too sore. Gradually lift more and more the more you workout.

Thanks for the advise fermy88!

It has almost been a week now, tomorrow I'll hit upper body again... I knew from past experiences with working out for long periods of time, then taking say...., oh....6 years off that I would hurt pretty bad, but it felt so good in the gym to be throwing weight around again... :D

Did lower body on Friday, Squats, Cleans, calf raises, negitive squats, as well as some other stuff, and now I can barely walk. It's all good though, it will soon pass, then I'll be looking for ways to feel this way.

Nah, as long as you've had atleast one days rest. I mean, if you can barely move, don't work out, but if you're just a little tendet, sure, go ahead.

I would agree with fermy88! After Monday's workout, I had to take Wednesday off, and only did light weight on Friday just to get the blood flowing again. I hit my upper body pretty hard yesterday (a week from my first day back) and things felt pretty good. My strength wasn't completely back, but it was workable, which lended in getting another great upper-body workout...

If you can't move, take your time getting back, you don't want to rip anything off your bones... ;)

Cold actually restricts blood flow by causing the blood vessels to constrict. For example, when we ice a soft tissue injury, its to slow the blood flow to that area to stop swelling.

As for teams doing pool and beach sessions the day after games, swimming as i'm sure you all know uses the whole body which does infact stimulate blood flow and assists in removing lactic acid and other wast products from the body. Swimming also causes no impact and thus avoids any unesessary stress to the weary body. I believe that the beach sessions are for the salt water, which can assist recovery (i believe)

That is at least my understanding anyway;)
