If GT5 Supports 3 Monitors

If GT5 supports the three monitor mode does that mean that you will have to get three PS3's and three GT5 games to be able to run in that mode? Or is it technically possible to have the game run on three monitors with only one PS3?

I am asking this because I will be putting a cockpit together and wanted to know whether I should start collecting monitors now, since I am pretty sure (never tried it) that I would prefer the three 24" screen setup over one 50" TV. But I will not be buying 3 PS3's and 3 GT5's to do so. Also, can I just get 2 cheaper monitors for the sides and a better for the center?

Thanks!

A 3 video display would require the PS3 to have 3 video outputs which it doesn't have. A 3 monitor setup would probably need 3 PS3s and 3 copies of GT5. That's how GT4 did it's 3 monitor setup and I assume that GT5 would be able to do it the same way.

Even if they managed to work out something (via firmware) so that you could use both video outputs on the PS3 at the same time, I doubt it'd have the processing power to output GT5 at 1080p resolution on both screens. So yeah, you'll most probably need a game and PS3 for each display you're planning to use.

GT Concept In 2002 i believe was the first console game to support the feature.
GT4 as your aware also did yet tbh Forza 1 and moreso Forza 2 became famous for it using triple screens.

GT5 should also support this as im hoping will FM3 too, well they better.

You will need:
3x PS3
3x Game Discs
3x Displays
1x Lan/Router

It is a unique experience though and more engaging with a heightened sense of speed as well. In general you feel more in the race, more like your on a track as well.
Compared to a single screen and indeed even on a large projector screen personally i would say its better from past experience.

Amar said along time ago that GT5 would implement extra displays...
Sony also demonstrated how the game is scalable with the super high def demo that had quite a while back which used 4x PS3 so the possibility of the feature being in GT5 is very good.

Doesn't GT5P have 8 camera views in it?

How awesome would it be to sit in a cockpit with 8 monitors surrounding you?!

(Uber expensive mind!)

8 monitors, 8 PS3's, 8 GT5 copies and an airconditioner...💡
... yep, could be very expensive!

I hear that with GT4 when you had 3 display, you could only race in TIME TRAIL? That sucks, what's the point of spenind money so that you only get experiance in Time Trial modes and not FULL racing.

I hope GT5 comes up with full 16 car race, 1080p per monitor (3 PS3s of course) and all events you can do.

Also regarding the 4 PS3s with one Ultra high resolution screen, and the 4 PS3 setup with the one normal 1080p setup but with 240 FPS . I hope FULL game has that feature, sure I wont have the 3840x2160p TV but I do have 1080p screen.

So I would love for the people with at least 2-4 PS3s to be able to COMBINE at lest 2 PS3s for ONE screen so that there game will run way smoother, nicer in graphics and overall cleaner experience. I would love that feature!

GT4 yes only supported the multimonitors in:

Arcade Mode
Time Trial & VS Mode (no other cars)

Ive seen videos on You Tube though of GTC 2002 using 3 screens and with a full grid of cars.
So id assume it supported it no problems.

Only need aircon for B licence... Anything more and it will be stripped out and it'll be like you're in a super hot racing car!!!

With only 1 screen you would need some extra hardware to receive the 2 inputs and turn it into 1...

Extra hardware? hmm I wonder how they did it with 4 PS3s and one screen.... maybe some HDMI box?

LOL...you definately need the aircon no matter what.

I ran a 3 x 32inch setup with 3 xboxs for forza 2 and sitting surrounded by all that heat in close proximity was pretty hot, i had fans running and still found it to hot to play for a great length of time.
It would heat the whole house!

Ive since dismantled that cockpit in favour of a 46inch set up, because forza 2 although was a dream to be immersed in a 140 degree view it was just a shame it wasnt fun enough with the crappy MS wheel.

But now the FANATEC is on order, and with Forza 3 coming later this year, im redisgning the layout, and getting the 32's out of storage, and ive got my self a nice portable aircon unit too now!
And when GT5 finally appears im gonna slip 3 PS3's into it too!

My carbon foot print is huge:scared: and so were my electric bills

Epic!
I'm looking at cockpits and can't decide between single and tri-screens. Costs can really spiral out of control.
I go from an Obutto with my TV and a G27 to a Rennsport with 3 screens and Fanatec wheel. Crazy. I love the three screen option though.
