Personally, with the plans to eventually have around 500 cars, I wouldn't doubt it if new groups or sub-groups were added, or even new sections of the N-Series. So, going by the GT6 cars that aren't confirmed for GTS (e.g. the Lotus Evora), what groups/N-Series would you create so that they could be both brought back into the series, but also be able to compete with each other?
-There are some various touring cars, such as the RM cars and Touring Car pack from GT5, but also the "LM Race Cars" from before hand, like those for the Honda NSX NA1, the Jaguar XJ220, and Pagani Zonda C12.
-There are still the various SEMA/Pebble Beach winners - both those that've received the award since GT6, and those who've had standard models this whole time, such as the HPA Motorsport R32. Not to mention the cars that've been awarded at the Tokyo Auto Salon up until 2010, like the HKS Time Attack Lancer IX. Plus all the other tuners that've been included, like those by Spoon or Opera.
-Not to mention the various historic cars, and historic race cars, plus the many special editions of cars and homologation models. For respective examples: the Toyota 2000GT, Mazda 787B, BMW M3 E46 CSL, and the Nissan R390 Road Car.
-There are also the other cars that don't seem likely they'll appear beyond the GT series, like the two Jay Leno cars, the three Senna vehicles, and Andretti's Hudson. Plus the Citroen "GT by Citroen," too, and the Red Bull cars. Though I think almost all of these cars sans the Citroen could be single-make classes, with the production-spec version of the "GT by Citroen" being put into the higher end of the N-Series.
Personally, I think there could be a group for late-90s GT1 Le Mans alone, consisting of the Panoz Esperante GTR-1, Nissan R390 GT1, Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR, and McLaren F1 GTR Longtail. The only reason I don't also list the Toyota TS020 is because that was more in the LMPGT group, and initially was only in GT1 through a loophole.
Another group could be made for cars with a remarkable power/weight ratio, like the KTM X-Bow, Caterham Fireblade, and LCC Rocket, as I think they wouldn't fit into their respective N-Series - while their HP may match other vehicles, their power/weight ratio would prove them overpowered in comparison.
