If you were to start all over again...

...what would you do differently in GT4? Would you go after all of the licenses, or take the shortcut of transferring them to GT3? Would you do only the B license, and do some races, and do the A license, etc.? How would you work through the game if you were to start it from the beginning again?

I don't think I'd do anything different. I try to keep races fair, I have all the licenses earned, I only let Bob drive in endurances, and I have all the missions except 34 done, which I want to save to be the last thing until I get 100%

-not bother training Barbara at all, and do my own money-runs in the DTM (that's all she does for me)
-don't transfer any credits from GT3
-doing all the races for each license before moving onto the next license sounds interesting
-get the manufacturer races done first. certainly all the slower-than-molasses K-Car and Copen and 2CV -type races.
-try to do as much of the game as possible using only prize cars maybe...

-wait and see what others post, probably be some good ideas there

I just got into GT4 again after it got corrupted :banghead:. I've bought my Mitsi Galant VR-4 and am finishing the B Licences. Then finish all the other licences (hopefully all on silver - 'cept for Special, i suck), get some money from the Capri Rally, buy a good car, then win the German A race (the one that gets you the CLK DTM car, and finally, do the DTM championship a few times. All in time to buy the Black Cars :sly:.

-not transfer the 100,000 credits from GT3 (never transfered licenses though)
-buy only the minimum amount of cars necessary
-see how many A-spec points are possible without nitrous or any form of dirty driving except blocking

I recently started playing GT4 again after it got corrupted at 27%:ouch:.

After reparing and cleaning the PS2 (which is dated from 2003).

I simply did all of the stuff I used to, and already regained 22% within a month. But I always keep a backup on my spare memory card, just incase.

I would go for max A-Spec points, since I wouldn't have to check race after race how many A-Spec points did I got in each one, since I wouldn't have any of them done.

get the Suzuki GSX-R/4 ASAP. you would be surprised what this car can do.

I currently have ten different games. :) So I've done it a little different each and every time. Sometimes I transfer money from GT3 (if there is any), sometimes I don't. Sometimes I'll go for as many gold licenses as I can, sometimes I just buy the cheapie car and hope for the best in the Sunday Cup. :dopey:

As per this thread...I have no regrets about the way I started any of my games. I won't be starting any more games, by the way. In case anybody cares.

Actually I just came back to GT4 after a long break. I didn't start from scratch, but re-ran some of the races I fancied.

- as little upgrades (especially HP) as possible
- learn to setup the car properly, stupid boy
- take it easy and slowly
- drive with a wheel and not the controller, stupid boy (I said that already)

I thought of starting again, but there's simply not enough time anymore :(

Ya, this. I'm hoping by the time GT5 is out, I'll finally be DONE with one of my games. That's why I won't start a new one.

I have a gt3 file laying around with 3.5 million credits. What I do is whenever i restart a game, i transfer the max amount(one hundred thousand) of credits and head straight for the Proto Motors Spirra.

Don't waste money on tuning your car to the max. Learn how to tune properly.

It is tempting in the beginning, isn't it? On the other hand GT4 somehow wants to make you to not take the easy route. And the whole setup is so refreshingly focused and straight forward, I appreciate that very much now 👍

...I just restarted my game fresh and what I did first was make sure I golded B Licence first. It makes it heaps easier to start off the game since you get three cars which can then be sold. I wanted to start off with a mini this time (don't ask why ) but I was a little short of money. My sister started a GT3 game not long ago and she had a few credits so I swapped them over to GT4. I bought the mini and am now working my way through the Beginner Races (Mini is way overkill I know). One thing I have decide to do this time is leave the Special Conditions races till Last because I always used to do the Capri Rally once I had the licence and once you've got $270,000 you can buy much too powerful cars than what you need. Instead I will find other ways to make money and Keep my mini for as long as possible.

Reading this is making me want my PS2 back. Stupidly I gave it to a friend's kids a year or so ago after theirs broke :banghead: , and my PS3 is not backwards compatible :guilty:.

You need to beat it. Don't wait. It was my proudest GT4 moment. It was the last thing I did only because it is the hardest(for me) thing in the game.

Mini ain't overkill in Sunday Cup if you run it on N tires. At least you're not using the Cien! :yuck:

Do you know how much of my bed has chunks taken out of it because I got pissed off at the game?! That race has taken at least 1 week off my life because of all the stress.

Yeah I'll put it on N1's but I got a Cooper S as I thought it might last me longer (i.e. be competitive in more races) than the mini one etc.👍

Gotcha.

Man that color hurts my eyes!
;)

I have started the game over a few times. The first time through I went as far as I could without buying any car, just using prize cars. The next time I did sections at a time, all beginner, all professional, all manufacturer, all missions, etc. This last time I have gone for max A-Spec points, one license at a time. For example, I first got the three cars for golding the first license, then entered all events I could for max points with these cars. Then I worked through all events that I could enter with only this license to buy the cars (and Truck) I needed to complete them. So far this method has helped me get the most out of the game, which is the least expensive entertainment, in terms of cost per hour playing, I have ever enjoyed. I now stand at 97,xxx A-Spec points and 89% game complete, and hope to be listed in the !00,000 point club before the end of this year!

Mine isn't either. But back on topic, it always helps to use those concept cars with no resale value so you don't think about selling them.

Well, I just restarted GT4 a few days ago. What I'm doing differently this time is:

1. No transferring of money/licenses from GT3
2. No B-Spec
3. No redoing any series of races to re-win the prize car

i wouldnt change anything except fir trying to find a way to NOT waste days getting to day 694 to get the black cars

i bought over 30 cars then selling them just to get the day count up

Yeah don't do what i did, get to day 694 with <3 million. I decided to sell all my rally cars (As the impreza spec C is faster than all of them anyway). I didn't know that selling cars advanced the days :indiff:. When i finished it was something like day 714  But i had enough cash to buy 3 of them. I had to wait til they next appeared, so i did the F1 championship a couple of times in the Audi R8 (The first LMP car i ever bought), then i trained my B-spec driver up until they came round again.

That was my old save of course. I wasn't stupid enough to do that a second time. This time i stopped at day 680 or something to sell my rally cars, and then bought 3 black cars (I left the R390, didn't have enough for all 4 after buying the BMW V12 LMR) on day 699.

I started playing GT4 again (in anticipation for GT5) back in November and have had much fun playing it because of what I did to make the game more challenging. First of all, I only bought used cars, typically with the worst colors, and only used cars that I won. Early in the game I bought an old Supra, then I upgraded to a used Skyline. The Skyline became a sort of project, something that I upgraded and extensively tuned so I could win tougher races with it. I also got all gold's on all of the licenses and beat every mission while I had less than 25% completed. I also turned the ASM option off becuase without it the cars handle more realistically. With ASM and TCS on driving errors are easily forgiven, without those mistakes are punished often with spin-outs (which makes setting fast times more satisfying).
