I'm about ready to give it up

No matter what I do, I can't seem to find the line, braking points, steering angle needed, throttle control, and whatever else that I need to be fast enough. I lay down lap after lap after.....and for some reason my mental capability won't let me go faster. I've looked at replays and it seems that I'm doing the same things as the fastest guys and I still can't seem to get any movement on the leader boards. I know I'll drive until the bitter end, but I don't think I'll make it to round 3.

I'm about there with you. After calming down for a couple hours I went back to Eifel and knocked off a few tenths to get me back to 9th overall in the West, but I'm pretty much done. I'm doing this all on my own because every time I try to load a ghost replay my system locks up. After saving and watching the leaders replay, I won't be doing what he's doing.

I'm still less than a second away from dropping out of the top 16, and if that happens, well, it's been a good ride.

I was done as soon as they replaced a sub 2 minute real track with a track generator special that has close to 3 minute laps, all with less than 5 days left. I feel that fact 100 or less people in each region have bothered taking time on both tracks says alot...

Oh well, my goal was to get into round 2, and I did.

I sat down for a few hours on Toscana yesterday and then quit out because I think I lost my edge. I was firmly going down, ten I clocked a 1:45.4, and had splits the following lap for a 1:44 and then somehow my ghost kept catching me and it mentally messed me up and I felt like I was making mistakes tried making adjustments and then started doing 1:46s. I might go back today but that was a total mental mishap I had yesterday, I was totally in the groove on my way to a nice 1:44 then lost it and never got it back.

I haven't even tried Eiffel yet.

^^^^ Agreed, they should have put a shorter track, I haven't even driven it because I know once I do I am locked down for hours, so I am waiting until tonight or tomorrow.

This whole competition has been ruined. I'm completely unmotivated because I know moving past round three will require some sort of gaming tactic, driving good won't do it. There are circuits that driving in the grass isn't beneficial, and settings that make the grass undrivable, but it's apparent to me that realism isn't what the competition is about. I'll probably try and make round 3 (signature addition will make a cool gift for someone:)), but if it's as corny as the first 2 rounds I won't put up much effort.

My thoughts mirror...

Its the collectors edition not the signature edition.

I am kind of with you, I feel like I could at least make it to round 3 if I pressed myself and focused, but after that making it to the finals would have to take me finding some serious skill, then after that competing in person against people in a setup I have never used would probably be way over my head.

If we went from round 3 straight to real cars I would be more motivated.

Don't let this competition get you down though, the gaps in time are similar to gaps in real life motorsports in a professional series, actually less. We are all around within a second of each other, and a few tenths moves you 20-30 spots on the leaderboards. If these were real races and not TT's I am sure just about everyone who made it would have a competitive shot because an actual race is a completely different skill.

I say this now because I am putting off sitting down for a hardcore session, I was waiting until Indy was over to see what was happening with that, then yesterday I tried Toscana, now I haven't even touched Eiffel and its already Friday haha I wonder what this weekend will bring. I procrastinated on Round 1 too.

That's why I tell myself to load a ghost but not look at it. A habit of mine is turning off the ghost but turning it back on if the split time told me I was ahead. It often ruins my concentration and makes me too tentative to hold the advantage or forget how to attack the next series of corners.

As for me, I may have to stop entirely. I just realized that Round 3 is on the week of Valentines and I'm out of town on business until Friday night. Even if I made the cut, there is little chance I can get up to speed by then. Also, my knees are not getting better and I fear I may have torn something internally.

I'm done with Toscana. I'll give Eifel one last go on Saturday and that will be it for me.

Yeah I'm pretty much burnt out with round 2. Wasted a lot on Indy only to be ruined by the "Gardeners"

Off topic, I found another good way to follow a ghost without it being in front of you. Load and turn off the ghost and then magnify the track map close to the largest setting with follow car direction. You can easily see where you are gaining or losing ground to the ghost without it impeding your visuals of the track.

We'll see if I can muster some energy to do more laps this weekend. I figured I would only make it to round two anyway.
