I'm interested in Asseto Corsa. GT5 has been a disappointment and GT6 is... ok.

I'm interested in buying Asseto Corsa. You know, alot of people have been talking of PCars, but Asseto Corsa looks like it's more suitable for me.

Even though GT5 and GT6 haven't been all that great, they still have a great format of gameplay. Getting Licenses, Racing and evolving the skills. Forza also counts, but it doesn't have license tests.

Asseto Corsa will have a Career Mode on release, which makes me even more interested in buying it. When the time comes, i will give it a try.

I'm still loyal at the GT Series (Heck, i'm even playing GT2 these days). I'm not interested in GT6, however. PD's lack of communication and updates just made me lose interest for that game. (But GT6 was more finished than GT5 so that's an upgrade)

Well, Assetto Corsa will definitely serve you well. Even driving solo is a blast - literally spent hours driving the 458 around Silverstone  Of course it doesn't compete with GT's immense car list & maybe accessibility (depends how patient you are - it does take a bit to set up your controller, but it doesn't take that long), but once you get going it's tons more fun. There's still some issues with the beta, like the AI, but I'm sure Kunos can iron them out.

To add there are roughly 40 special events varying from drag, drift, hotlap, and AI races. As well as lots of different steam achievements.

There has not been much detail as to what will specifically be in the career mode.

I think anyone who is on the fence about getting this sim should give it a go.. My first 2 weeks, yes 2 weeks, I spent driving the F40 at silverstone. 1 car, 1 track. 2 weeks. It just feels right.

I've been a huge fan of Racing games (Especially Sims) and i never touched a PC Sim before due to my previously crappy PC...
Now i have the chance of looking at Asseto Corsa.
And man, Italian names seems to be the trend of racing sims, isn't it? Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport and Asseto Corsa...

Communication and updates don't seem like big reasons to be disappointed with GT and there were quite a lot of updates in my view. Of course if you want a particular thing and they don't listen then that could be important but really there's thousands of suggestions out there.

Assetto big plus points so far are physics and modding What in more detail or other is wrong with GT?

With Assetto, updates are for the lack content already

The GT players who try AC seems pretty mixed from some who love the physics to others who expect something close to AAA budget console polish but find out PC sims are really bare bones and uninviting, more setup needed by the user etc.

Certainly for me AC and pcars are the most impressive comparing to older pc sims and pcars is coming to PS4. Maybe even AC will come to consoles or at least PS4 eventually.

Well in this case, the developer is actually Italian.

To be fair actual Assetto Corsa AI (which is not perfect) is already better than any Patetical Digital attempt to code some AI. Not that doing better is difficoult though.

Ah yes, GT AI. AC's AI is showing a lot more promise - they actually fight pretty well for position. But they're very susceptible to "Turn 1 Blues" as I call it.

Yep, lap one of every race is always a mess where ever you drive, but once the first lap is over the AI are pretty good, they're also very fast if you max them out.

If they braked just a little later and didn't half throttle when deciding which side to overtake another car, they would be almost perfect. Sometimes I like to watch a replay from the AI's perspective in cockpit view, some of the slides they catch look impressive and the reactions quite human.

This is one of the main reasons why GT's AI is bad! They brake way too early.
In fact, since GT3 they brake on tracks like TEST COURSE, FREAKING TEST COURSE
