Hello GTPlanet Users! I am Jack Levin, CEO of ImageShack.

Over the users a lot of you uploaded some very high quality photos to ImageShack, ranking this forum one of our top referrers at ImageShack.

As you have probably recently learned, ImageShack has discontinued unlimited free picture hosting, and now offers limited time free accounts for first time users, and premium (paid) accounts for the rest at about $2/month.

I have spoken to Jordan about an idea we had, and he agreed that I engage you guys about it. Basically, we want to offer premium GTPlanet forum members 3 months of unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth photo hosting. Now, you may say that there are plenty of ‘free’ hosting services out there. I want to point out there is absolutely no strings attached to this offer, there is nothing to lose to try new ImageShack;

We do not modify your pictures in any way, we do not track your bandwidth, we allow animated gifs, have multi resolution service that can change resolution of your picture after it was uploaded without touching the original, we have an amazing, fast new drag and drop uploader, awesome album management system. Three different views to see your pictures on ImageShack. IPhone and Android Apps (including Mac OS desktop app that works similar to dropbox “Skypath”). Plus, we have no ads whatsoever to spoil the user experience. We make at least 4 backups of your pictures so that they are almost impossible to lose.

I am planning to post a URL that will upgrade existing accounts to this “GTPlanet” status in this thread. Until that point, if you would like to get your account upgraded, please PM me, I will verify your status here, and adjust your account on ImageShack accordingly!

Thanks,

-Jack

Thing that stikes me as a bit odd is how many CEOs come to a forum and explain why they made changes to a service?

Not many from what i have seen.

Haven't you already been told he is who he says he is? Why are you still attempting to call it into question with posts like these?

I know he is a CEO.

Just saying it is odd to see a CEO come on to a forum.
Have you seen any CEO of Honda, Gran Turismo, Forza, Microsoft or anyother company come on a forum?

I don't think I have seen the CEO of valve on the official valve forums at all besides a rare post here and there.

Let's put it this way. If the CEO or even the "CEO" of not some lame company, but instead ImageShack has come and made a deal with Jordan, and even posts on the forum and replies, that is pretty good customer relations/PR at the least. Still doesn't beat Imgur, but still.

True.

If there was an issue with a product and the CEO of the company went on the official forum to apologize it would be nice, but things like this rarely happen if at all.

The CEO of imageshack is promoting his company's services, with one of there main users.

I used to have a premium account even when the basic site was free as it's always been the easiest image host for me to use, but recently my premium membership was revoked as my credit card details hadn't been updated on Paypal. So this has come in very useful! Thanks for the offer. 👍

EDIT: It appears that my account is still listed as a free one despite clicking the upgrade link. Any chance I can get the upgrade please?

EDIT 2: Clicking the link gets me an 'Invalid Token' page. :(

Moglet, PM'ing you.

I have a lot of pictures on my old ImageShack account that I don't use much. If the account goes to a "non-premium" or whatever it is to be called, will I still have access to my pictures or will I have to have the premium?

Even though we prefer you as premium. We will not be stopping access to your old pictures. We will just patiently wait for you to upgrade ;)

Guys, Jordan posted an auto-update link for GTPlanet premium users to get free 90 days extra at ImageShack, just in case you missed it, here it is: http://gtpla.net/imageshack-premium

How could we possibly miss it when it's in a banner at the top of every page?

It goes away when you click the X in the corner of the box. I haven't had it come up since it came up.

Yes, I know that. My point is, the "reminder" that @jacque74 posted (twice in this subforum) is hardly necessary since one has to acknowledge it to make it go away.

Why the negativity towards a small banner that can be closed with a single click? It helped me out immensely, I rarely visit this section of the forum and would not have found out about it otherwise!

Perhaps it worked differently for different users?

It was almost literally the first thing I saw when I logged onto GT Planet, on the main forum page. It was not limited to just this section of the forum. In fact the image I posted elsewhere was from a screen capture of the main forum page; www.gtplanet.net/forum/.
