Since it has been confirmed by the offical PD Kaz GT PSP video and also been confirmed as a feature by reviewers of GT PSP I ask the question in the title.

With 1000 cars to unlock, GT PSP provides an easy way to unlock a lot of cars prior to GT5's release possibly reducing the boredom of trying to afford all 1000 cars whilst playing the same graphics engine, against the same AI on the same amount of tracks. I use GT5P as an example, I was truly sick of the S9 Daytona Oval race trying to earn enough cash for the F2007 and Citoren by the time I got to having them left to unlock.

On the other hand starting GT5 with possibly a Veyron, an R8, or an Enzo etc already in the garage, could take away the thrill of earning money so you can add them to the garage. I know waiting to get home so I can play Shift today the lure of having these cars is getting me excited.

Also and this is possibly the biggest concern I have is, if PD don't implement class restrictions or PP limits on all races, the begginer cup races will be a joke even if you first car is "only" a Lotus Elise or a Lexus IF instead of a Bugatti. And it will be hard to drive a "crappy" car for these races if you've got all these super cars imported from GT PSP in your garage with new cockpit views you haven't experienced.

The final thing will be online in the initial weeks where people who already have the high performance cars are going to smoke the field who have to start with $10,000 second hand Toyotas etc, especially in the higher classes of racing, aids off etc.

I think the way it will affect is up to the player. With so much content is difficult to figure out what to do at the beginning, and there are many path to take.

The idea of importing is that you do not get bored trying to earn the car you just earned in the PSP again in the PS3. Many guys here that will buy both, say that they will not import, and many guys like me will not be buying the PSP version.

Anyway, PD surely has thought about issues like restrictions on races or the online modes.

Let us hope that one actually has to take paths, rather than just unlock everything.

I'm the opposite. The more cars i have on the first day the better. I'm planning on spending alot of time on the Top Gear test track and online right from day 1 and probably alot of 2 player races with my mates so im gonna need a wide selection for that too 👍

I hope they leave it out of the Gran Turismo mode....I also like to start from scratch...
On the other hand, if some friends come over to my house to play gt5 I would like to have as many cars for them to choose, so I hope they use that option in the arcade mode.

I think the limited amount of dealerships per day on the PSP version will help things out. I think thats the reason it was made like that.

If I can, I'll have the best of both worlds: :)
- In one PSN account, I'll start from zero and earn cash and the cars by myself, in order to fully enjoy GT5.
- In another PSN account I'll put a game save as soon as it is available with most cars unlocked just for online play

If I was getting GT PSP, I'd use it for sure. The faster I get a bunch of cars to race online the better. Racing is at the core of the GT, the forced progression thing is a relic from older times and helped make up for a lack of AI and/or physics in GT and other games.

Maybe I'll try to start from scratch at some point way down the line, but definitely not at game release.

Wont effect my GT5 experience at all as I will not transfer cars from GT PSP.

I'm sure PD will implement the car transfer without ruining the essence of GT5. I'm assuming that although we may have many cars in our virtual garages from gtpsp we will still have to level up before we can use them in a race. Something like the class C,B,A licenses in gt4. Even though we may have the cars we will probably be only able to race them in time trial's until leveling up.

I'm more interested to see if the game allows for any modifications to be made to the save game file of the PSP.

For example, lets say i take a standard F40 on Suzuka on GT5, if i can do a lap in say 1 minute 30 secs, then in theory i should be able to do exactly the same on the PSP.

Now say i fine tune the car in GT5, add a lot more BHP, wieght reduction, better balance to suit my driving style, i might be able to knock 15 seconds of my best lap time.

Now what we be cool is if GT5 modded my GTPSP savegame file to give my F40 the same specs as in GT5. For BHP/Weight/Camber/Tyres this shouldnt really be a problem if the car is programmed correctly.

By doing this, your bypassing the need for full customisation in GTPSP as you'll do all your mechanical modifications on your PS3.

Obviously, i wouldn't expect this to work with 'livery' or bodykits, but then again, we still havent had these things confirmed in GT5.

Ill buy GT PSP , Ill buy GT5.. But I will not import any cars from PSP to GT5 because it will ruin my experience.. I love starting from nothing and building momentum for the top. PSP GT will just mess it up by already allowing me 1-5 cars by importing.
I dont know about you guys, I think its good feature for either CASUAL players, or people that already finish GT5 two times and wanna quicken the experience 3rd time.

If it ruins the experience, then dont do it. I remember how diferent was GT4 if you imported licenses/credits. Starting with an used Silvia is different than starting with a Viper SRT-10 .

As many others have i said i belive it will ruin the gt experience, although there is a lot of fun in racing a veyron/zr1 etc round the nurburgring the whole point of the game is you start off with a cheap 2nd hand car, tune the nuts off of it and see how far it will get you, from there on you play the game your way!!!

It technically wont affect my GT experience as the only cars I intend to import are ones that I already have. I wont be importing them to sell, just for collection sake of a colour I may prefer if that option is unavailable in GT5. Eg. I intend to find a way to get all the special pre order colour cars and transfer them to my ps3 assuming they aren't available on the ps3 without importing them. Even if I import them before I have purchased one myself I more than likely won't use it anyway to keep the miles off it.

GT5 will almost certainly have a fully fledged career mode that in some way will be similar to the GT campaign we know and love. It will most likely take up many hours of hour lives because we will need to build up and work our way to the top in the most authentic racing experience ever seen in a game. It would be silly of PD to allow you to gain the best cars for each race type without working for them so I imagine the cars you can transfer will be used fpr multiplayer and arcade mode (any maybe other modes) but not career.

It may just be for arcade mode. I suggest waiting until TGS, though.

This is a perfectly plausible possibility. Personally, I believe everyone can (and should) do what their want to their games, as someone has already said.

What I don't want to see is cars not available in GT5, and that you have to transfer from GT PSP to GT5 to unlock them. :grumpy:

Anyways, SrRd RacinG is right: we should wait until TGS. I believe it's four days away. Hopefully some of our questions will be answered. 👍

To be honest, I am praying that progress through GT5 is slow.

I hope it's more about selecting from a vast choice of cars than collecting them all. The allure of games, for me, is much much greater when there are more avenues than you can possibly go down.

I think the limited amount of dealerships per day on the PSP version will help things out. I think thats the reason it was made like that.

But doesn't the "share garage" or whatever featuer direclty counter that?

I wonder if we will see a save game torrent or something somewhere that has all 1000 cars unlocked days after release or sharing garages like crazy.

I mean limite dealerships slows down collecting cars, but sharing speeds it up. And it seems that even with the dealership rotation just starting and forfeiting races or just racing really short races over and over again would time warp you through until you saw what you wanted.

I will play them as two separate games as unlocking 830+ cars one by one sounds like heaven to me :D but I don't want it to effect my GT5 experience either.

Slow but rewarding progression is a good thing. I can't comment on the way I will play th egames together unless I know how this transfer system will work.
