Importing your own music

So yeah, you can import your own music for racing and menus etc.
But my question isn't how to do it.
I want to know why the same song is playing all the time even though I have set the playlist to shuffle...
It's annoying because say you restart the race, the same song will restart, wouldn't bother me if it just carried on from the last point but no, it just restarts. It's really annoying. Anyways to resolve this?

Just keep setting up your playlist with the same settings and eventually it'll straighten itself out. Happened to me last night and that fixed the problem mostly.

I must have re-done it like 5 times now, keep setting it to shuffle and it'll work then I'll go back to the menu and it'll be turned off again.

Here's how I do it: Enter Personal BGM > setting shuffle: on > repeat: folder (put all songs in a playlist, not albums/artists etc so the game can find all of them) then choose any song (I like to scroll midway down the list and pick a random song) and press X, this confirms the changes. Using Circle to exit the menu might not be saving your shuffle/repeat settings.
