When i try to join my friend's lounge i got the error message saying:

You can't join because of the network incompatibility with the room owner
[771]

I can create a room myself but the other people who joins get the same error.

I can play with this friend in other games and i never used to have network related errors.

Any help please?

Well both me and my friend have NAT type: 2, it's never been a problem with other games except for maybe once or twice on prologue but an easy fix was just resetting the PS3, this does not work however with GT5.

It's a odd problem as there has been times where we have been able to connect to each other (with him being host and me the only other person in the lobby), this is what I don't understand, something obviously changes and either allows or blocks us from connecting to each other.

I am having the same issue here as well. It sucks because there are 4 of us and we all live with in 15 miles of one another. One guy is left out. We are all on different ISP's. We are all connected to the net via router so we are all NAT 2. We have all done the update patch as well. What does this error even mean? It is driving us crazy because you would think this we be a non issue. It's all PS3's over broadband into their servers. Since we all live so close wouldn't it be the same server? Or region for that matter.

I am having the same issue as well. I read that enabling UPNP on both your routers might be a solution, mine was switched off but I haven't had the time yet to try again... Try it!

I'm still having a problem with this, it's really anonoying as there are 4 of us also and 1 is getting left out... We're nat 2 and i'm thinking it's nothing to do with the router, it's goddam gt5, any ideas on this?

When this happened to me it was because of problems with my wireless router. It was resolved by connecting the PS3 to the router with an ethernet cable so I assume you get the message when your connection isn't fast enough be it due to poor wireless signal or your actual connection speed.

Have you performed the internet test through the PS3, what were the results?

OK PEOPLE...I beleive i have a solution but DON'T and i repeat DON'T hold me to it.

I had this problem and solved it this way :)

In GTLife go to OPTIONS> NETWORK
Then go Clear System Cache

I hope this helps you

Put your PS3 into the DMZ (de-miltiarised zone) of your router, it should work fine then.

That's what worked for the OP (it was me he couldn't connect to).

Can you please explain how to do this. Also, what exactly does clearing the cache do? Please excuse my ignorance but I am quite the noob to the PS3 system and like many others, I'm having a very difficult time getting into & staying in others' lobbies without getting booted within 30 seconds. Thanks in advance!

I was able to solve this by turning off the PS3 and modem.
Then turning on modem and letting it start up till fully operational.
Then turning on PS3 and connecting to same fiend that was unable to connect in the first case.
Hope this helps.

Nigel.

You would need to access the Routers Firmware (Search up the name of the router and look up IP address you will find it) amongst the settings is the DMZ setting and you have to input your PS3 IP address in there.
