Incorrect lap number and position with pit stops

  • Person pits at the end of lap 6 going into lap 7
  • When they complete their 7th lap, it doesn't count. Instead, they drop to last place
  • Their 9th lap becomes their final lap, which is 'fine' since their 7th lap never counted
  • When they finish the race, everything resyncs and they regain their rightful position
  • The cars behind them all all lose a position as a result
This is an ongoing issue with races involving pit stops, and it's causing mass confusion as people think a lapped car is on the track and they suddenly drop positions near the finish line without being passed.

I've had this a few times, usually the guy in 1st gets relegated a lap then regains at the end. It is weird but position on the road still counts so, not the end of the world but a bug worth fixing all the same!

Still here... did no pitstop at all.. showed me 10th, but after the finish all of a sudden i was in p16.

Had it the other day, thought that the guy in front of me was a backmarker because he showed p18, me p1. He was holding me up and "blocking" me... but after the race was done he showed p1 and i got p2 while i thought i got a win. They have to sort this out quickly!

Yeah, had that today on GT3 round 'ring GP. I finished either 7th or 8th on the road, but it said I'd finished 12th! I'm a bit annoyed as my DR isn't great at the best of times (D), so as I started 14th then that result would have been quite useful. Though there must be some karma going around as somehow my SR has crept up to S!

Just playing devil's advocate here...could the game be placing your final finishing position based on the total individual times you all finished your races?

Had this same thing today on the daily (only on lap 5 not 6) guy enters the pit in 6th place and leaves in last place but continues to climb to behind 3rd place guy at finish. I'm 7th until he crosses the line (showing last place) but then suddenly the game corrects itself and awards him 4th and I get 8th.

It was a fair race but a bloody annoying and confusing bug!

I ran into that last week where I was approaching a car on the last lap that showed being in 14th position and I was in like 4th position with about a 5 second lead on the closest car behind me. Since there were only a few corners left I did not feel it was worth the risk to make the pass on what was a lapped car even though I had the pace to do so easily.

Stayed behind him the last few corners and at race end it moved him into 4th costing me a position. I would have made the pass if the positions had of been shown correctly.

Yeah, had it a few times today. Guy in front of me showed as #17, wouldn't let me pass easy, so I wasn't going to risk my 2nd place in the last lap on a back marker. Yet he turned out to be 3rd, someone entirely different was 1st, 1st became 2nd, 17th became 3rd and I was 4th.

Another time I was first for the last 4 laps, so I'm taking it easy. I cross the finish and I'm second...

Yeah something isn't right with pits and then cooresponding position when exiting compared with people still in pit and those who didn't, but are still in lead lap.

Yup happened to me as well. Followed 15th for the last lap congratulating myself on a well earned 3rd only to end up 4th :P. Didn't risk the overtake because I had a good 6 sec lead on the guy behind.

Had this happen at Mt Panorama... I was in 2nd with 1st a few seconds ahead, he pitted lap 4 and I decided to stay out until lap 6 to see if I could get ahead. Pitted and emerged in 1st but the guy who had been in 3rd was now 2nd but a long way back so I assumed the guy in 1st I'd been trying to catch must've made a mistake and lost a lot of time. I took it easy for the last 2 laps as I thought I could coast to victory without needing to push and risk a mistake, only to discover at the finish he had actually been a couple of seconds ahead of me. I did think it odd that the car that I thought was a back marker just ahead of me as I exited the pits seemed to be quite quick for someone in last but it was one of about 6 Meganes in the race and with me taking it easy I didn't get close enough to see the driver's name, plus I hadn't experienced this bug before so had no reason to suspect I really wasn't in 1st.

I don't think I would've won because those Meganes are way too quick on a track with long straights but at least would've been able to try and put up a fight, which could've been a lot of fun. Was so proud of what I thought was my fantastic pit stop strategy too. :nervous:

Yeah i think the ending positions are correct because even though I was 8 the guy in front of me after pit was 12 but finished 4th on the board and he was running about a sec faster than me but was showing him a lap back during the race

Had this happen yesterday on Nurb GP. The guy in second suddenly had position 14 when he crossed the finish line at around lap 7. His ending position was still correct.

Ya I think at this point it would be better to assume apparent backmarkers are actually ahead of you. Unless you're on an oval I think it's very unlikely to actually lap someone in Sport Mode.
