Hey Was watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom the other day and i fell in love with the car at the beggining of the film, the one thats being driven by a 10 yr old Kid, the one Indy and the Yankee chick fell through the roof of.

I tried tracking this car down, and I think I found it, it was an "Auburn 851 Boattail Speedster"

But then I looked closer and the car did'nt add up, the Auburn has pipes coming out of the side of the engine bay, they were there, so was everything else...... except...

The real Auburn 851 Is a 2 seater, the one in the film was a 4 seater, I thought that maybe they used the inside of another car for the interior shots, but then I saw that when Indy Gets to the Airport, you clearly see them pushing the seat forward and getting out like a hatchback.

So can anyone tell me exactly what car this is, and wheather or not they make an all steal replica of it??

And does the 4 seat Auburn actually exist???

Help me.

Is it this car?

(Says 851 on front grille and engine bay has Steel Pipes?)

I hope this helps.

I thought it was this one...

Did they use an Auburn because Auburn is in Indiana?

The car chaser_fan posted is an Auburn Speedster - it looks like they were only 2-seaters from my info. The models of the speedster were named after their cylinders and horsepower. There was an 8-88 (8cyl, 88hp), 8-90, 8-95 (successive releases of the same car, with power hikes), 8-115, 8-120 and 8-125 (same again - 8-88 and 8-115 were the same year, 8-90 and 8-120 were the same year and 8-95 and 8-125 were the same year). A 12-160 was added in 1932.

They were built between 1928 and 1933.

The three main Indiana Jones films (with Harrison Ford) are set between the two World Wars - he meets Hitler in the "Last Crusade". Temple of Doom, despite being the second film, is set earlier than Raiders, so may be just a little too early for this car to have existed...

Oh, I found the Duesenberg Model SJ - which looks very similar, but may be able to seat four (I can't tell from the canopy-up shot) and the Stutz DV32 which only looks vaguely similar but IS a four seater (with a 2 seater derivative).
