Hi, I have been able to do some basic designs using Inkscape to upload to Gt Sport. But now I'm looking at doing some more detailed designs. Only problem is the 15kb upload limit.
I don't have any editing knowledge, but I know you can reduce the size of the file. Problem is I don't know how.
If anyone can help me it would be most appreciated.
Again I'm using Inkscape.

But you have to be realistic and aware that at a certain size, no amount of file size reduction will get you below 15 kb. If it is too complex, you will have to simplify it manually or split it up into separate files.

Something useful I think anyway...

Ctrl+Shift+D opens up the page options, here you are able to alter the background colour and transparency (set it to a colour you are not using and adjust transparency so you can see the colour) along with resizing the page to the selection or drawing, when resizing remember to select everything. I feel this is important as it can help with flipping and moving decals once uploaded to the server.

I tried inkscape and hated it. Triallong Adobe Illustrator now and having the most joy out of all of them. Not looking forward to laying £20 a month for it though, but may have no choice short term.

Try Affinity Designer. Much more fun than Illustrator and no subscription fee.

It does not have an auto trace feature, if that's what you mean. Apart from that, it is fully professional vector editing software, and does many things a lot better than Illustrator.

Darn it. The trace options in AI are what set it apart for someone like me. I have no clue how or what paths are used or do. But by manipulating the options in AI I can manage to get most logos I need to work.

you could use one of the online converters as a start, but I understand you.

I rarely ever use auto tracing. It only works well for simple shapes, which means they are so simple I can quickly do them myself. With more complex shapes, the auto trace is usually so messy I spend at least the same amount of time cleaning it up than I would tracing it by hand.

The basics of drawing paths are extremely simple, and definitely easier to learn than fighting the GTS uploader with bad .svgs. Tracing a logo by hand seems intimidating, but if you just tackle piece by piece, it is surprising how simple and quick it often is.

But I dont even know HOW to do manual tracing, thats the issue. Like which icon/tool to use or anything! lol And the online ones are pretty shoddy compared to AI. No background removal, massive files, poor fill for small shapes, all things I can work around in AI. It literally seems like the only viable option for my current skill level.

BUT! I figure if I can progress within AI then I can eventually cancel it and move onto something with a one time fee, or even a free program because I wont need autotrace/background removal by then. Im trying to play some bersion of a long game I guess?
