EDIT- I will keep this main post updated for people who wish to list themselves as interested.
So I was interested in starting a Touge (or mountain pass) tournament club.
I would like to start slow, with either HP/KG ratio restrictions or straight PP restrictions, and just meet and battle for fun for a while. Eventually I would like to have two teams and battle in a bracket style championship every now and then.
I would like to have (at most) 2 or 3 "classes" of cars, ranging from BEAT / CAPPUCCINO style class, to a RX7-FC / CIVIC class, and then a EVO/STI/GTR type class. You wouldn't have to pick a class and stick to it, but maybe have a car for each class available and tuned ready for battles.
Example being the first championship just being the medium 150-250HP class, then the next being a lightweight class, etc.
I'd plan on making courses and keeping them so the players can actually learn the courses and practice, instead of learning new Toscana Mountain courses every meet.
As far as restrictions and rules go, I would make it as realistic as possible, with tire wear and fuel consumption, heavy car damage, but no "penalty" for ramming into people. No "boost" for being last and no aids.
As far as which tyres to use I think that most would agree on comfort medium/soft for the lightweight, comfort soft/sports hard for medium, and
sport medium at best for high powered/awd class.
We could also do some Tsubuka (spelling?) and Eiger short track for some runs too.
For the way battles go, I believe the traditional Touge rules would be best. Only one lap. The two players start in front / rear of each other. The idea is the person in front has to lose the chaser by the end of the lap. If the chaser is more then 2 seconds slower than the leader, the chaser loses. If the chaser is less than 2 seconds, you start over with rversed roles (chaser now leads). If the chaser passes the leader by the end of the race, its a win.
Interest check?
