The Intermeccanica Indra, styled by Franco Scaglione, was a joint venture between Intermeccanica of Italy and Opel, the German Division of General Motors. Most of the 127 cars (in three body styles: Coupe, Convertible and Notchback Coupe) produced between 1971 and 1974 were fitted with running gear from the Opel Diplomat including the 5.3 litre V8 and later 5.7 litre V8's, but some were fitted with Opel's 2.8 litre straight six. They were sold via the Opel dealer network in Germany. Six cars were imported to the USA. Opel / General Motors withdrew their support and the project ended.
