We're at it again guys. Another xTCC race. This one is between forums.
Right now Race Department has invaded the series with 4 drivers. Wheelracers will have 4 min. But we figure we'd let other forums represent themselves as well.

ForzaPlanet your honor is at stake! If you can commit 4 (or at least 2, hell even 1 guy, lol) racers Saturdays at 11 AM EST you will be doing the Forza Planet contingent a great honor. If not then ....

May I have the honor of representing ForzaPlanet? ;)

I only discovered the WRTCC series not long ago, and it really looks fantastic. It's the kind of intense, close racing that is just immensely rewarding and fun. Would love to participate.

Well that's what I'm talking about. So far that makes 2 for Forzaplanet.com. You can artboy need to get together and get your forum master plan in order ;)
If you guys can drum up 2 more from this forum that would be great otherwise 2 is just as good. I'll direct artboy to this thread so you guys can talk it out. Tomorrow is a shakedown race so be ready at 11 AM EST.

Very fun shakedown, peaked at 4th, and the racing was very intense.

I saw the other teams had their own liveries, so perhaps I could work on one for the ForzaPlanet team if artboy is still in.

See you next Saturday ;)

Glad you had a good time. It was definitely some intense action. You didn't happen to save any of the replays? For some reason I didn't get them all even though I saved them all. Don't get it. Maybe i missed some. Hopefully artboy is still down with it. If everyone is ready we can kick this off next week but if not then next week will be the last shakedown. In any case we'll be implementing groups then where the fastest guys will be in one group and it'll progressively go from there.

I'm being EXTREMELY strict with the liveries but I've seen some nice ones here. They need to be in the theme of what you would see at a WTCC/BTCC race so put something together and let me check it out. You'll also need the name/number plate to put on the car. I'll send you that template. We all will use the same name/number plate.

There is a new SEAT tune up so for those who choose the SEAT get the latest from my storefront.

Unfortunately, no, I didn't save any of the replays :indiff:
It could have been very neat to see a recap of today's action, but I never gave saving them a thought.

Anyway, I'd appreciate if you could send me that name/numberplate template. I'll start working on a livery for the C30, and I'll send it to you for review before the weekend. If it's binned, I'll just stick to the livery from your storefront ;)
Though I am missing a nameplate on that too, ain't I?

Yeah, that's an old livery. I was wondering who bought the livery when I logged in. lol. I'll get you the files shortly.

Mark I sent you the name/number plate so you're all set. Wait, I have to send you the livery also. I just plain forgot. Will be sent tomorrow for sure.

Heads up:

The Ford Focus 2009 tune is up on the storefront. Seeing as not everyone has the Focus 2013 model the 09 has been tuned and ready to roll

The Audi tune has been updated. Check them out.

..... so as I was saying earlier Mark II Blit, those Audi's on the straights are killers. I remember being behind a few and was getting nowhere , like whatever I benefit I was getting from the draft was getting swallowed by his raw speed. I think you drive that Volvo way better than I. I took it around after the race and have discovered a few things about it that I hope make me faster.

But like you said this was definitely a blast. Infineon was intense and Nurn GP was just classic great racing with personal battles everywhere. Like you said the cars are well balanced. Add to that the grouping this keeps the racing tight and we have a good one here.

Some great battles were indeed to be found yesterday, and everyone had one at some point. Not a lot of major contact really, more of the occasional love tap that is bound to occur when the racing is as close as this. Had a good battle for 5th on Nür with an Audi, constantly changing places and tailgating to spook the other driver into a mistake. Best fun I've had racing online in ages

I do really feel at home in the Volvo. Handles well, and I was surprised to see it running Top 3 times on Nür GP, which is such a fast track. But I guess some of my GT5 racing experience plays in here, since I did not at all feel at home on a variation of Suzuka, I had never tried before.

Hockenheimring next Saturday is going to be exciting. The combination of long straights, tight hairpins and long sweepers should make for some interesting racing. There's a little for the entire line-up here ;)

I'm glad you had a great time. More action yet to come. This Saturday is the BIG one :)
I have you down for number 49 as your confirmed race number. I know one thing you handle that Volvo better than I do for sure :( I was practicing with it the other day and realized I'm driving it all wrong. I changed my driving style and "seem" to be faster now. I just don't know if I can concentrate and do that for a whole race, especially when the pressure is on and I want to revert to my old style of driving.

glad to here that you realized that there is more than one way to drive a car to get the best out of it.
also glad to here that most are pleased with the tunes.
i will also need a livery - talk to you later total

Quiet YOU!!! Damn know-it-all. 🤬 I especially hate it when you're right! :banghead:

I'll shoot that livery over tonight. You're running with the Audi right?

The scoring system is about to be posted. Remember guys , as I said before this is more about the "team" than the individual. There is an individual scoring system but there's a "twist" to it.

Ok guys go check out the thread to view the new scoring system. Some very interesting bits of info in there. :D

Quality racing on Hockemheimring, having an impressive field of 15 touring cars (!) in the first race. It was my first time on Hockenheim National, since I had completely forgotten to practice, and I had my teeth thoroughly buried in a pizza when I remembered that I had to get online - 5 minutes prior to race start, lol. Found myself trapped behind a lagging car in the first race, so it was a bit nerve-wracking to pass 4th, even though I pulled it off on the last lap. IN the second race I was off to a bad start, getting stuck behind an Audi, and then started driving like a madman to catch up. That didn't work, however, it only made my Volvo a frequent visitor of the sand pits :ouch:

Then network problems set in, and broke up our party. Oh, well, still a fun Saturday night. Finished 4th/15 and 10th/12, which I am happy with.

Will manual be the only transmission option from now on?

Well normally we do but for this series I've been letting people use what they want. Was it set on manual only? I'll make sure that the host puts in open.

I'm glad you had some fun. The 5 lap practices were fun but then the "issues" ensued. Well that was a major let down. We finally get everyone in the room, 15 players, run 5 laps complete with no issue and start running 5 more than BAM network problems. At this point a patch is supposed to be coming , it's probably better we wait for the network patch that is supposed to be coming next week. We'll just chalk this weekend up to another practice session. More info to follow. If even after than we still have issues then we'll probably race with whoever gets in at a certain time.

Well, it was only in the last race with only me, you, novadave and Seeker that I couldn't use automatic. It's not a problem anyway, since it's not that difficult shifting manually, and I like a good challenge ;)

I just needed to know, because then I need to start noticing the gear changes, too, when I practice hot lapping.

With this extra "shakedown" week it gives me an opportunity to review some things and make some last minute adjustments. The primary category that has been on my mind is the groupings. When we were running 8 man fields the groupings made sense as with that many cars it was pretty easy to find maybe 4 or 5 cars in battle with one another in different packs but 2 or 3 guys might find themselves pretty much hotlapping with nobody around them. Makes for boring races for those guys. With the groupings it brought the number down to maybe 1 or 2 or some nights none racing alone, albeit in different packs.

With the larger fields, however, I feel that's really not necessary now. Looking at the replays I feel everyone will matchup with someone and have their own battles going on. There's enough cars out there for everyone to find someone to race with. I still think in keeping with the spirit of the actual WTCC racing groupings will be needed for a success ballast. However for this to transpire all the cars need to be balanced with each other without the need to use the groupings to reign in any car that might be overpowered compared to these others. The cars all seem balanced enough to compete with each other without the need for groupings to reign them in with one exception, the one car I've been getting ALOT of feedback about, the Audi. My intention was to use the groupings to compensate for that and for the most part it worked. However if we're to do away with the groupings that car would need to be tweaked. The lazy way would be just to make an "Audi" group in the lobby and those who want to run Audi's would have to go to that group. It would do away with groups as we're currently using them but groups would still be used. Groups will be used regardless as we'll be doing the success ballast and that would require groups.

So what does this all mean? Instead of individuals going to all different types of groups everyone would start races in group 1 (if Audi tweaked, if not then everyone in Group 1 and all Audi's in the "Audi basic group"). After heat 1 the winner (or more, I have to review how many people get the ballast in the WTCC is it just the winner or 1st , 2nd and 3rd or what) would get the ballast by going to group 2 (if Audi tweaked, if not then and an Audi wins the that winning Audi would go to "Audi ballast group") and everyone else stay put. Winner of 2nd heat goes to group 2 while everyone else goes to group 1 (still debating whether the heat 1 guys goes back to group one or is joined in group 2 with heat 2 winner).

Well there it is, give me the feedback fellas?

Ok guys be ready for tomorrow. We'll launch this mother no matter what!!!! Unfortunately the predicted patch never came out. So we'll just carry on as best we can.

EDIT: 9 showed today, but there was still some good racing to be had. And, damn, the Volvos were flying today.
I was quite amazed to see you hit 1:37:02 in the last heat, kudos for that 👍

Any chance of a video coming up? :)

Yeah I'll put something together for this one. It was definitely some great racing. I might have had a decent time but damned if Bellmond didn't hit the 1:36 mark!!!! :boggled:
Man I was giving it all I had trying to take the race. Dude was just flying in that BMW. Those things are better in the turns than the Volvo but on the straight WE RULE.

You did some great racing yourself. I think you nabbed 3rd or 2nd in the first heat right? All I know I was getting past a few people after getting a wheel failure and having to reset. But I don't recall getting a glimpse of you. I'm saying to myself, "aero is going to be MAJOR trouble in the Volvo, dude driving like he's possessed" lol

That was some great racing though. Loved it. Might have been a small crowd but it was some good action. Hopefully network and no-shows wont hurt us next weekend. We lost at least 4 racers today due to network.

I snatched 2nd in the first heat, that's right, 4th in the second. My 2nd place looked a bit wobbly battling with Secret's yellow Bimmer, but I pulled my act together, and put some air between us. I think Seeker took him out in the hairpin soon after I passed him, slowing down the field, and further cementing my lead. I did everything I could to catch up with Bellmond, but he widened the gap by at least another second for every lap we did, no matter how hard I pushed. You also took 3rd in the first heat despite technical problems, which is quite a feat :)

The second heat had some shoving going on towards the first hairpin, including offed cars and crashes, so merging whilst maintaining speed was a bit of a problem. I had a brief battle with a Bimmer, but then it was pretty much smooth sailing to 4th from there. The Audis didn't seem that strong today, so they were falling behind me, and you three up top were untouchable and constantly pulling away, so I had the road to myself, and plenty of room to learn the track and the Volvo. Judging by distance meter on the scoreboard during the race, you must have had some tight battling going on up there.

It was indeed a most enjoyable night, I'm looking forward to seeing a recap ;)

Next week's track is ........
The RING! We were scheduled for the GP track but somebody booked it and they forgot about us so the track owner offered us half price for the Nurburgring track and we jumped on it. That's the story ;)
