I was lucky enough to interview Ray Hikari, Ray worked with Daiki Kasho on the production of GT6 Soundtracks, the 2 songs Ray Hikari produced with Daiki Kasho were "All My Life" and "Place in This World".
Ray Hikari's answers regarding GT7 were restricted since he could get in trouble for revealing too much information about Gran Turismo 7/Future GT Games but i managed to get an interesting pieces of information aboout Ray Hikari and Daiki Kasho.
Q1: How did the collaboration between you and Sony/PD begin?
A1: Well, I was first noticed by Rui Watanabe, songwriter/drummer of 'Fade_’ (band).
Rui also wrote the lyrics for some of the Gran Turismo 6 songs. He saw some of my band music videos and covers and recommended me to Daiki Kasho who was looking for a vocalist for the GT6 tracks at that time. Then Rui and Daiki asked me to demo a couple of songs and I got the job.
Q2: Working with Daiki Kasho and more people behind the music of Gran Turismo must have been an amazing experience, what are your thoughts on it?
A2: The whole experience went by very fast, but not in a bad way. I really felt it and it was great working with people who are such experienced in music. For me, Daiki is a genius and it was also a real honor working for a game I grew up playing with. I remember playing GT1 on my PS1 console. Man, those were the good times!
Q3: Your band Station of Revenge seems to be becoming more popular with every day, how did you come up with the idea to be in a band and what was your inspiration?
A3: 'Station Of Revenge' started off as a cover band [you can still find the covers buried in the forgotten Youtube videos] and then we moved on to making our own music. Growing up, we listened to a lot of alternative rock bands like My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park and these were our greatest inspirations for the most part.
Q4: I have to ask this, what is your favourite song from the Gran Turismo 6 Soundtrack List? You can pick your own song too, that still counts!
A4: Tough one... I'd probably say "All My Life". I really felt the song because I could relate to it. It's also powerful and kinda fast and it gets the blood pumping, fitting nicely for a racing game.
However, if I had to pick one that wasn't performed by me, I'd pick 'We Are One' or 'Looking for you now'. Long story short, I'd pick a Daiki Kasho song!
Q5: Do you plan on making music for the future Gran Turismo games such as Gran Turismo 7 or possibly even more games in the franchise?
A5: A little birdie told me that Polyphony Digital is scheduling meetings for an upcoming game.
And If they ask me to sing again in GT or in any other games I would do it in a heartbeat!"
Thanks to Ray Hikari for his time! Great guy, check out his band on Youtube "Station of Revenge" https://www.facebook.com/stationofrevenge
