Invisible cockpit: the last one before final version

URBANCOCKPIT-1
I just finished another evolution of my own idea of just-find-a-way-to-hide-this-ugly-cockpit-whatever (well knowed wife citation)...

So like I said to you last time https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/the-invisible-cockpit.281905/, here is some pictures...
and dont hesitate to give your constructive opinion ! :)

So I'm sitting on the simple look-a-like bench with the simpliest design ever. 103 x 46 x 46cm, very compact.
40mm of foam under the vinyl, you cant guess there is a cockpit under it !

My wife said yes again about the design. She choose the color so next one will be like brown tan vinyl, as I prefer this color...

In front of the other TV table-cockpit

The sequence is exactly the same than the other one...

Seat can slide on rails (8 positions) depending the lenght of your legs, and 3 possible inclinations for the backrest. there is 20mm thickness of semi soft foam on the seat, so more comfy now...

LOL that is pretty brilliant and the hilarious thing is that its got a more correct and proper driving position than half the pro cockpits out there LOL. No steering wheel in the lap syndrome. Nice job.

It sounds like I'm joking, but I'm being totally serious when I say - put floral prints and pastel colors on them. If the appeal is that it will blend in with furnature and not be noticed, make it frilly and I bet more guys who have to appease their wives will be willing to get the floral print if it goes with the rest of her stuff. Maybe a knock off Marc Jacobs or Coco Channel design print would be nice.

Thanks for your positive replies.

I took a blueprint of a sport car ergonomics (Lamborghini if I remember well) and I just rotate a little bit the whole drawing to adjust it to my solution. The only down is that your back is not enough supported near shoulder (after 1 hour, I'm happy to get up. But I found a solution: Will be seen on next version...

It's not a joke, it is a brilliant idea to convince a reluctant girlfriend, wife or mother (even a boyfriend in certain cases).

In fact, my wife already submitted that idea after choosing the color of the vinyl. Not sure about the Coco Chanel or Vuitton design, could double the price because of the copyright...;)

And giving multiples choices of colors and fabrics will help coordinate with other furniture in the room.

How much ? I want one ! I think this design in just incredible. Is there any side to side or other play when in use ?

Seriously if you mass produced these you'd make some serious money. Maybe you're already wealthy, but license it to someone. :)

I would definitely purchase one since I don't have much room for a wheel.

Here is an idea. Make me a design where it folds up as a box/seat and then somehow make it so there is a back support so it kind of combines as a couch, kind of like a couch with a racing-wheel in it with removable armrests and cushions. I don't know if that makes sense to you.

No prices yet, still a prototype... there will be another one at least made a little bit different but better and cheaper to uilt... I wanted a cockpit with no side to side or other play, I succed, this one is very rigid and stiff when in use...

Still work in progress, so license is for later. Patent is on his way :)

Not a bad idea. As soon as i have time, I will take a look

Well, since sofas and love-seats have lower sitting positions it would be kind of awkward to try and squeeze a wheel into that kind of form factor. If you can pull that off thatd be amazing.

This is something that will make GT6 much more accessible to housewives everywhere...
PD will thank you for helping them reach a wider audience/fan

Now we know what else women could/would do at home ;)

Totally convincing product !

I am sold !

C'est super!
C'est GENIAL !!!

Mais quelle idee fantastique! J'ai vu ta premiere version et deja j'etais convincu!
La version finale doit etre trop Vache! ;)

Killer idea and even better execution. My only recommendation would be to upgrade from that plain ol' DFGT and get a nice racing seat. I'm sure it has super high WAF.

In my experience, a real racing seat is impossible to fit in small fourniture like this one. I tried for a while. But my newer version will be more appreciated regarding to the seat solution. Wait and see ! :)

I have a G27 too... And soon a TR will come.

Awesome, I showed it to my wife and instantly said whoa that's really cool, 5 secs later told me... do it yourself! Lol I have no idea how to build something like this so seriously I would buy it without hesitating a bit.

Kudos for the idea and hurry up applying for a patent!

Usuhaia, I know there is a potential for this product. I'm currently building a serious website. And this is the place where you will find for a cheap amount all the informations (including drawings) to help people buiding one cockpit like this one. Only challenge will be to find some of the materials and to put correctly the vinyl stuff (not easy).

Cool, will the drawings and instructions apply for different wheels?

Edit: just checked the other thread, question answered already.

Keep it up!
